Sunny days and giant hats

Photobucket
I got a new lacy petticoat last week, so thats how this outfit started. Playing around with it, I realized it was like a circle skirt, perfect for layering, something I haven't done before. So I put another red petticoat underneath and voila! Extra fluffy. I can put more under too, but that will have to wait for a circle skirt.
Then came the dress, a fabulous frock from Fab Gabs, I put on to model and didn't want to take off. So it came home with me.
And while looking for a hat, I saw this wonderful Christian Dior from Xtabay and knew it would be perfect.

Perfect for an unusually sunny and warm Saturday. I would like more of those please.

So your outfit is so stunning Solanah! I love your petticoats and the ribbon on the hat is the perfect compliment. The dress is to die for, so can I just say that I would love a copy of your exact outfit?

Where do you get your amazing petticoats? Online or at vintage shops? I'd love to know ~ I have one, but it's only knee length which is a bit to short to do a proper 50s style.

That is one amazingly gorgeous dress. I have recently started attaining my vintage wardrobe. And sadly gorgeous items are so few and far between in my country (New Zealand). Im putting this down to the fact that we are a small country and not really that old...And we have an ageing population..that all want to hold on to their clothes! Ohwell, the searching is fun!

That polka dot fabric is amazing how it decreases in size to the waist. I would love to find something like that. and the petticoat...great color. Have you ever worn the petticoat alone as a skirt?

I love the combination of red and brown (is that brown) - so cute! I hope you did something awesome that day because I really hate putting together such a good outfit and then having nothing to do in it :(

The petticoats are vintage, I got them all at the shop I work at. The longer, authentic 50s ones are very hard to find, so I snatch them up whenever I see them at a good price :)

New to your blog... LOVE this look (and so many others you've posted), ditto on everyone elses compliments on the red peekaboo petticoat. And those gloves were a perfect touch!

Everything about this look is absolutely my style... but no info on those supercute sunglasses! Vintage or modern-vintage-inspired?

Looking forward to spending as much time as I can manage searching your archives... thanks for the fun inspiration :)
