Lately I've....

Photobucket
Visited my kitty friend a few blocks away. We cross paths now and then. Photobucket
Enjoyed lots of spring blossoms. Photobucket
Pretended it was summer and had an ice cream cone. Photobucket
And today coming home from Fabric Depot my mother and I stumbled across Crowning Lori hats. Photobucket
The owners are so nice and helpful, and her work beautiful. She's working hard on Kentucky Derby hats! She let us raid her feather supply for our Titanic hats, though if you're in need of a hat for the tea, or anything else really, she can custom make you one! She also told me she restores vintage hats, replacing veils, that kind of thing, if you're in need of that. Photobucket
Here's all the millinery supplies we got! Now excuse me while I go trim some ridiculously large hats.

Oh my gosh that store looks magical! I would absolutely get lost in there and no one would ever find me again. I'd just live in a sea of feathers and hats.

Oh to dream....

What a cute kitty I should do a similar post, a gorgeous kitty lives just 2 doors down from us but spends it's whole time on our door step or window sill!

I have been looking for some beautiful pink and cream ostrich feathers but have been unlucky in that department. I wish I knew someone in Atlanta, GA who restored vintage hats. I have some 1940s hats in need of veil repair. The vintage market here is lacking in experts who specialize in vintage restoration or retail. So sad. I wish I lived in Oregon just for unlimited access to vintage clothing and accessories.
That kitty is so adorable. Personally I do not let my cat go outside for fear that coyotes might kill her (some of my neighbors have spotted some roaming around awhile ago) or worse she catches a disease or gets hit by a car. So Miss Kitty has been safely indoors and content.

My dog is a cat person: Doesn't like other dogs, but loves cats. There are several neighborhood cats on our walking route who know her and actually come running across the yard to greet her when they see us coming. I keep forgetting to bring my camera with me!

We at CrowningLori Hats, aka the Bright Yellow House would like to thank you for stopping in yesterday, and for including a photo of our shop interior in your blog. And while we are not a 'vintage' shop, per se, we are always happy to help with millinery supplies, feathers and 'vintage-style' hats, when possible. Plus, we are always open to trading... what have you? We look forward to assisting you in the future,

Kevin and Lori Mirati

That's so fab (and my dream job - to have my own millinery shop)! I just finished up with a 4-day "down & dirty" hat-making session with my favorite millinery guru. We worked each day from 6:30 am - 7:30 pm, and created some awesome hats inspired by ones from vintage magazines from the 1930s & 1940s. Hat-making is SO fun and SO addicting. Can't wait to see your own hat creations!!
