Adventure ladies

 photo 1_zps021886b9.jpg

Here are some photos from my own collection of rather adventurous ladies in some less than ladylike attire. All are from the teens/early twenties, except the woman in the boat, she's from 1946. I find the one of the two women standing at the edge of the water most interesting because it looks like they're wearing womens sweaters and mens slacks. Something you don't see too often that early on.

This is such a wonderful collection of rugged, adventurous yesteryear ladies. I know that such gals are a favourite of yours, and always try to pin them on Pinterest when I come across such images anywhere online for you (and for all those like us who adore vintage outdoor images).

These photographic images really portray the way in which women began to rebel against society's limitations by politicizing their clothes, or reclaiming men's attire and perhaps their freer reins. I think about these things all the time when I'm wearing 50's dresses that restrict free movement of my shoulders or constrict the waist verses the more free flowing liberated dresses of the 70s.

Great post!

These are fantastic!! My favorites are the first gal, and the lady in front of the train. Such badasses! And now I have a strange hankering for a pair of knickerbockers, hmm...

What adorable adventure ladies! I have so much respect for women like this in the early 1900's. They were true feminists!

Love this! If these ladies can go on such great adventures back then, we have no excuses!

These are such fun pictures! I'm sure they would have killed for some of the functional outdoorsy women's wear we have today, but they're the ones that paved the way for us!

Are any of the people in these photos scouts I wonder? Spotted the neckerchiefs you see. I'm a cub scout leader in the uk.
Brilliant piece of history :)

Stunning phonographs, dear girl!
The lady on the second photography, holding a hat in her hand as an amazing attire! The hat itself is something I'd love wearing in this day and age, and her shirt is pure perfection.

Have a great day
