Populaire

 photo Populaire9_zps3b295de9.jpg

Last night I watched Populaire on Netflix streaming, a french film set in 1959, about a young woman who trains to be the fastest typist in the world. Aside from the cute story, it's full of fantastic outfits, and I'm now searching for a green skirt like hers, because she's just too cute.

I saw this film in the cinema earlier this year and loved it too! I thought it might have been a bit too 'nauseating' but it wasn't at all! I love the skirts and blouses she wears (and pretty much everything else!)

This is probably one of the best films for repeat viewing, I think I will be buying it. It's very funny and the sets and dresses are fabulous and there are songs in it, what more could you need this winter? Great present idea for your vintage loving loved ones.

How has this film flown under my radar? Gadzooks! I must try to remedy that at once - any film with fashions that marvelous instantly becomes a "must see" in my books.

Oh, it's so maddening that netflix in sweden don't have the same movies as in the US so I can't watch the movies you recommend. This sounds just up my alley. At least they could have the same english-speaking ones but without subtitles one would think but no...

I watched the movie right when it hit cinemas here in Germany, and I think it's just so adorable. The dresses are really, really cute, and I think they did a great job with the overall late 50s aesthetics.

I saw that picture of her with the stripey dress and the hands in a magazine. I had't realized it was from a movie! I went to watch it on my netflix, but there aren't any english subtitles, only spanish. I don't understand french either, so I'm definitely just watching for the outfits. I think I'm getting the story though!

This looks adorable, based on aesthetics alone! I can't wait to watch it.

I have seriously seen everything that Romain Duris has been in that's available in the US. I think he's pretty adorable. I wasn't sure whether I'd like this film going into it, but I really enjoyed it. And, yes, the aesthetic is pretty fantastic.
