At work

I love my job. Weird, I know. People aren't supposed to love what they do almost every day. But I work at a vintage shop, so it's kind of hard to not appreciate the freedom of dressing in vintage everyday, listening to whatever music I want, and sometimes helping people find crazy costumes for disco parties.
And my boss is awesome, she's had the store about 8 years, and hired me nearly 4 years ago. Partly because I spent so much time there :)

A normal day involves putting new merchandise out on the racks, working on endless repairs, helping customers find an outfit for a play/party/date, and putting together merchandise displays. And enjoying lunch from the french bakery, while sometimes finishing a Sherlock Holmes story if it's a slow day :)

Working at a vintage shop is also one of the reasons I have so much clothing, I have first pick after all! But, you can visit our Etsy shop here.

Sounds like dreamy days at work! I adore the plaid on that dress. It's fab you've got such a classic hourglass figure. You look beautiful in vintage.

I struggle with finding an authentic, wearable vintage look as I'm more of an apple shape. Adore the 40's and 50's.

Would you ever consider doing a post on how to adapt looks from different eras to suit different body shapes? Your work in the shop would have given you an insight into styling different shapes wouldn't it? Just a thought!

How fun! I would LOVE to work at a vintage shop. (Actually, right now, I'd love to work anywhere. I really need a job, haha.)

And you made that hat and sweater? Amazing! You are truly talented. :)

Oh I know, I used to work in a vintage shop in London and got first pick of the new stock, it was my favourite day of the week.

Your cardigan and matching hat are just so sweet.

How many ways can I say Dream Job??!! One day I hope to be able to afford to open my own little storefront of vintage loveliness, but until then, I'll have to be content selling online, sigh.

It is no wonder you are so happy, it looks like an amazing place to work! I would love to have my own little store one day, especially if I could break for soup and Sherlock Holmes at lunchtime.

Very jealous! I work in Topshop and so long to work in a vintage store, I'm always being told off for wearing vintage not Topshop clothing.
Love your outfit and little socks! x

Ah this place looks amazing! Admittedly I hated working in retail, but if I went back to it this would be the ideal place for me to be! :)

KristiMcMurry said...

That does sound like a pretty fantastic job! I miss working in retail (unfortunately, I didn't get to work with vintage).

It was always really fun seeing things before they were put out. And dressing other people up is a blast too :)

Ah! I remember going there during Spring Break in 2000. It was my first trip to Portland. So fun.

I work in Topman, and although we really are meant to wear Topshop clothes, I luckily never get pestered about the fact that I never do. I think they know that there's just no way they'll get me out of my vintage! haha. Very jealous of your job, that looks like a lovely place to work!

Sounds great! Up until recently I worked for a big costume hire company where we have an entire warehouse filled with vintage clothing which we hire out for film, television and fashion shoots. I could have spent forever in that department!

That yellow looks so good on you! I'm torn between being jealous of your job and being thankful that I don't work in a vintage shop, because then I would be taking even less of a paycheck home, lol.
