Yesterday, a couple hours after I went to the post office, my grandma calls and excitedly tells me that after months of trying to get me in The Post Hospital, it's finally going to happen. You might remember this post featuring the outside of it. The military owned it and the barracks surrounding ever since it was built, but recently they have left the area and the historic buildings are left to the National Parks and National Trust. So now there's actually a future for this building instead of just being forgotten!
Of course I was ecstatic that my cousin and I would get to live out the weird little childhood dream of going inside the building, and then I realized I had sent out my nurses uniform and cap just hours earlier to the other side of the world, as it was a part of my shop my closet post.

But
I had another nurses uniform, so it was all good. Because everyone has a spare vintage nurses uniform right?
Right.

I work in the Presidio of San Francisco, another old military post now a National Park. I love all of the old buildings and how many of them have been converted to fit the modern visitor center, museum, office, non-profit org, restaurant and even homes without losing their old personality. However I too have always wondered about one of the old hospitals insides. I hope they have plans to let people in soon so that I can finally see for myself too.
Wow, these photos are fantastic...what a setting! Fit for a horror movie I think, but very nostalgic at the same time! I love the blurry photos, they're very haunting!
Amazing place, and beautiful photos! you reminded me of a tv show we have had over here in the UK called 'Call the midwife' its based on true storys in east london in the 50s, you would fit right in with that outfit:) Jess x
My old school used to be a hospital run by Florence Nightingale and still has the Ward numbers up on the walls, so when I saw these pictures, I instantly thought of school!
These are gorgeous!!! What a stunning, haunting space, and you look swell. I know this sounds odd, but I can't help wishing modern hospitals were still in these big lofty old buildings.... it would make going for check-ups a lot more appealing, haha!
The amount of times I have nearly bid on vintage nurses outfits, you have now confirmed that this is a fantastical idea. You look beautiful, these shots are so cinematic xxx
I know almost everyone has said it, but those ghostly pictures! They are amazing. Kind of chilling but in a beautiful, ethereal kind of way. Such an enchanting old hospital too. When I was in Victoria we got to ride around an old fort and army base, but we weren't allowed inside the hospital or anything. The fort itself was very interesting though. I love old buildings =]
I am in the Air Force and I work on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, HI... I have a feeling that you would have a field day posing with all of the old-school buildings and aircraft that are now historical landmarks since the attacks in WWII. I actually work in one of the hangers that were bombed right next to the flight line and it's very cool; some people believe that it is haunted!
I just LOVE old building. Just walking around and squinting your eyes a tiny bit and almost seeing it in like it used to be. If you want to see somthing cool, go to the Kansas state capitol.
