Here's how I've been doing my hair the past few days, instead of pin curling it. It's quite easy, and today I did it in five minutes! Ok, ok, they were a little asymmetrical, but whatever. It's just two loops on the side behind my bangs, and a snood the hold the rest too short to do anything with.
Hmmm, I always have so much throughout the day I want to post here, but forget by the time I get home...sorry guys, this is why I should quit my job and do this full time, don't you think? :)
hehe.

hi solanah!
i've been following your blog for a bit and just wanted to say what lovely style you have (and great etsy shop too!) i'm glad to see you wear all that's between the 20's and 50's (and today) because i can't commit to one decade either. :)
So pretty! As a pro stylist, I'm fairly certain those are called pin curls. There are many forms and ways to do them. You did such a great job! :)
WOW that's such a cute hairstyle! It looks quite simple and chic! I kind of want to try it now. Haha maybe you should write down your blog post ideas in a notebook throughout the day. The same thing always happens to me :)
lovely! and they're called rolls ;D
They look great on you! It gets easier and easier everyday. Gently back comb the back for more height and volume, va va voom!
And yes, please blog full time! You are already a pro!
love love your style,
agneta
Yes. The answer is yes. Your blog is my favorite.
Your hair looks lovely. Can you take a picture from behind? I'd love to see the snood.
This is a lovely hairstyle. Quit your job? If you can make it work, I say go for it. Follow your passion!
amazing! I don't know how you do such amazing things with your hair...i can't get mine to do anything...I'm going to keep trying that headscarf thing though...I'll get it one o these days...LOL
Yes, I do think you should quit your job and do this full-time. If only all us bloggers could say that!
Do you know of any vintage hairstyles for African-American women? I'd love to style my hair when I'm wearing my retro pretties, but I have such an enormous fro that I'm not sure what would work.
I must admit, I'm jealous of girls who have straight hair and have to curl it. I have naturally curly hair and just cut it short. Because it's not perfectly controlled and sculpted, it always looks modern, even when I don't want it to. Victory rolls are an impossibility, as they just turn into a frizzy mess.
Oh well. Headbands and fascinators are always fun.
Very cute hairstyle, it looks pretty easy so i may have to try it! xx
That depends on what your job is.. in fact, what is it that you do?! I'm sure your wealth of readers would support you mentally and financially :p And perfectly styled as always x
Lovely! I really need to start getting into working with my hair more, I've just always felt like I'm so clumsy when it comes to hair and that I look weird with anything other than a page boy haircut/style :/
I'm so thankful that your bobby pins aren't all showy like I've seen in so many blogs. You are like a breath of fresh air to my 40s hairstyles that I love to do as well. I love the snood being added.
Your hair looks great!
I think what Betty Lou says makes the most sense, plus that makes me think of bread rolls....yum :)
Feathergirl, I'm sure I'll wear it more so I'll try and take a picture of the back and post it on Facebook. But it's just holding the short hair in.
Treacle, I actually just came across this set on flickr of vintage photos just of African American women.

There's a mix, but some really cute 40s and 50s styles.
Emma, I actually work at a vintage store part time, which is actually fun!
You look adorable! :) I have lately come across a few images of women from the 40s with rolls facing forward (rather up or towards the back), and am glad to see that it looks so darn cute! I may have to give this a try with my newly short locks. ;)
re: ideas throughout the day... I used to have that problem all the time, and found if I could smuggle a tiny notebook and piece of paper and scratch down ideas (or even just words to jog my memory), it helped loads. I have the world's worst memory and still have to do this, 'cuz I forget all my good post ideas that I come up with! ;)

You have inspired me so much! I tried a loop de loop of my own this past weekend and it looked beautiful -- will definitely try it more often. Thanks for your wonderful pictures and sharing yourself with us.
