Today Twila Jean and I had little girls day out-a very WINDY day out! We did some thrifting at our usual places on Hawthorne, and then she took me out to a wonderful lunch at The Bread and Ink Cafe, where I had a mojito and bacon arugula spaghetti (yum!). As you can see the cafe building was originally a cute little Fred Meyer, I'm glad they kept it's vintage charm :)

We both got some really great stuff, she got pretty 40s and 50s dresses for her shop, and I got two hats (one I'm wearing), two pairs of shoes, a snakeskin purse, aaaaaand the most darling Lucy Ricardo style maternity suit from the 50s, even though I'm not preggers. It was too cute to pass up!

In the second picture I was laughing because Twila pointed out how I fit in quite well with the Tokyo girls on the sign, just as a gust of wind rushed by. It was crazy windy all day, we nearly blew away a few times :)

Gosh, you guys are just the cutest! Your hat is adorable. You make me miss living in Portland so much. I had no idea that cafe used to be a Fred Meyer!

Mega cute, you guys are adorable. I love that skirt! The shot of your shoes is too cute! I love photos like that! That hat is fantastic, did it come with the pins on it? I've always wanted one of those viking ships!

Oh my goodness I love that Alpine hat! And it has all the pins! Any idea if it's authentic or a tourist piece? Either way I adore it.

My dad actually has one similar that he bought back in the 80s while in Germany. My mom (who is German) would get so mad at him for wearing it in public! According to her only old ladies and tourists wore them.

I lived a few blocks from Hawthorne when I lived in Portland. And the bread and Ink cafe is one of my FAVORITE places to eat. Everything I've ever eaten there was delicious. Oh now I miss Portland!

I'm a bit of a lurker on this blog, but with this post, I had better introduce myself, since I work in the bookstore on Hawthorne and I'd probably be inclined to say hello if I saw you.

Hi! I've used the black skirt with white embroidery as inspiration for this blogpost: http://destoffenkraambeverwijk.blogspot.nl/2015/02/kleur-bekennen.html I've also linked to your blog and the post with the skirt, I hope that's okay! You are an absolute inspiration!
