Today a few friends came over and we made pasta by hand, without a pasta maker! We tried to make it pink, but it ended up being orange, then the color just boiled out anyway, but it was still yummy!
I love making fresh pasta, my mom and I were lucky enough to go to a cooking school in tuscany and learned so many fun things. It's so easy to make and tastes so much better made by hand. It looks like you all had a great time! Yay for slow food!! :) BTW, love your dress!
Next time, if you want to make it pink, add a small amount of pureed fresh beet to the dough; it doesn't add flavour and when it's cooked it will be a lovely pretty pink :)
How fun to have a "past making party"! I tried my hand at past making (also without a pasta maker... I'm angling to ask for the Kitchenaid attachment for Christmas this year ;) recently and had a blast. Although mine were nowhere near as fun looking as yours were! Any particular recipe you used?

Purple Deer, I'm not sure, we didn't really have a time crunch so just took our own sweet time!
Casey, we used this one, it tasted great!

What did you flavour your pasta with? I just made some beet fettuccine (I caved and bought a roller machine) and it's AWESOME.
Jennifer, we added some beet juice to the pasta, then topped it with veggies and a cream sauce.
Looks like fun. I've always wanted to make my own pasta.
