My summer closet

I hate closet doors. I really, really do. For one thing, I can never shut them. But mainly I love my closet to be open. After all, I have some totally awesome clothes (not going to be modest here), so why would I want to shut them all away?
I rotate me wardrobe eight times a year. That might seem like a lot, but you have no idea how much clothing I actually have. It's packed tight under the bed, in a full sized chest in the living room, in suitcases stacked behind our pink chair, in storage at my mothers, and in my grandmas extra closets. So to make sure everyone gets their turn, I switch it up for spring summer, summer, summer fall, fall, fall winter, etc.
In my current closet I had to narrow down the dresses to 35. Yes, I can go over a month without wearing the same thing twice. The rest wouldn't fit! Speaking of wouldn't fit, once I hung up all my dresses there was no room for my poor little skirt rack (with some swimsuits and rompers). So I had to bring it out into the room, which honestly I love, it feels like shopping every morning when I get dressed ;)
So there you go, my summer closet, now I will just sit and wait for the sun to come out....

my goodness! I thought I had a lot of clothes, but no. I love closet posts, it is like being 13 at a slumber party at your new friend's house. Your purses are especially adorable. I wish I were this organized.

Can I live in your closet..I promise you won't even know I'm there...;)

You'll have to have a fashion show for us. There are some pieces in there I'd love to see in better detail.

Oh my goodness! I'm currently suffering from wardrobe-envy right now (and also season-envy... we're heading into a cold, cold winter here!)

I don't think I could ever live without wardrobe doors though... I am such a neat freak, I need everything hidden away in it's place before I can sleep at night!

Your closet looks like a funky shop in an artsy city somewhere that I would just kill to shop in. I have forever been ridiculed and sometimes envied for the amount of clothes I have, but really, I can see that I have nothing on your wardrobe. Maybe this is a strange question, but how have you managed to build up so HUGE a collection of lovely pieces in your so far short lifetime?

That embroidered, bird bag...SWOON! Your closet might give me a heart attack...it would probably be my "Vogue closet"

The colours and patterns are amazing! I'm also very impressed with gow well organized you are. That's a truly extraordinary collection!
Made me a bit envious, until I realised I almost can't fit the small amount of clothes I do have into my small storage spaces. I also have enough problem chosing what to wear as it is. How on earth do one pick just one thing to wear for the day out of such an overbundance of beauty as your dress-collection? =)

wow how wonderful - I've seen a closet change post before and it's as exciting now as it was then. I love your puffy crinolines :)

Totally jealous! I love your closet.

Wow! I really must say I envy you! We have so little space in our appartment, not to mention the closet, this looks like a dream to me...

Fabulous! I have closet-envy! I too have a problem with space, I've had to cull the items over the last year and reduce them so they'll fit in 2 wardrobes, a chest of drawers, a huge 1950s suitcase and an ottoman! Need to work on quality not quantity though, whereas you seem to have both!

I recently had to move and therefore downsize my wardrobe to fit into 3 suitcases. That it was 3 and not 2 made me feel bad about myself already - And there I was, thinking I had too many clothes... This is seriously awesome - you are one lucky girl!

I am totally jealous! Yet at the same time relieved, now I can show my partner your blog post and he will understand that there ARE people out there who own more clothes than I do! Yay!

My God. I have to buy more clothes!

This is amazing! You have such a huge amount of wonderful clothes! My friends already think I'm a fashion victim when I have to rotate twice a year (spring/summer, fall/winter) just to get all my clothes in my closet. But mine is tiny against yours! There's one thing I love on rotating: you open the boxes after half a year and any time it's such a surprise to find pieces which were completely out of your mind!

Rebeccak said...

Wow!! Your clothes are incredible! I absolutely adore that dress you wore in your last post with the trees on it.

You are a terrible influence - I am constantly trying to convince myself to edit my waredrobe. eeek!

Oh my!!! Eye candy! I'm seriously drooling over all these! lol. I really narrowed down my closet before I moved (especially since military moves have weight limits. Bah!), so see how many things you have is inspiring and fantastic! hehe! I am so impressed with the rotation idea; I might have to try that as I build my closet back up again (this time, despite the move restrictions, I actually need to flesh things out a bit more! I think my husband may have more clothes than I do at this point... rofl!).

Next time someone tells me I have too many clothes (to which I always respond that you can NEVER have too many) I am pulling up this blog.

You have an AMAZING closet.

Oh, I love the clothing rack idea! I have a clothing rack in my basement, just sitting in the corner! I think I'll have to find room for it because my closet is starting to over-flow too! That's a lot of clothes!! How long have you been wearing vintage?

All those vibrant colors and prints! You're making me drool, lady.

Haha, ditto everyone else's "I thought I had too many clothes!" comments. I just moved and I finally got rid of 4 bags of stuff and still have a ton. I finally got all my clothes put away- now I have to tackle shoes and bags. Ugh. But we both live in cities with SEASONS so in my defense that's why I need to many clothes; half my wardrobe is winter wear!

How funny! I just read "My Favorite Color is Shiny" a few days ago, and Ginny said that she loves to keep all her vintage clothes out too, in a massive, open wardrobe. Glittery, sparkly, lacy clothing should never be shut away, she said.

I have a pocket door into my closet, and it's normally open for that very reason. I love showing off the house and then flipping on the light of my closet as they walk into the bedroom!

Oh my gosh. I think I'd have died and gone to heaven if I was let loose in your closet. If you ever -cough- would like to get rid of all your clothes . . . I would be a delighted to accept on befald of . . the lovely clothes society! I -- ahem, we, are a wonderful cause and would put everything to good use. Haha. xD
Seriously though, you have an amazing wardrobe. I probably have enough clothes to wear something different everyday for a while. Only thing is a lot of it is from like modern and shorter dresses/skirts phases that I went through a while ago. So I really don't wear much of it. I wish I could like trade the stuff I don't like for amazing vintage clothes. Soem magician needs to set up a vintage shop wear the conjure up clothes and hand them out for free. 8)

That was a long post. Sorry, clothes make the imagination run wild.

Hi Solonah,

It's flowergirl here :) QUESTION: I love all of the cute vintage glasses you wear.

>Do you change the lenses to your own perscription?

>Do they already come with a perscription and you fit them anyway?

>Or are they just glass (or did you put in glass lenses yourself)?

I would love to know as I am looking to get some cute specks of my own!

Amazing!!!! I never shut my closet door either...and I have to make sure before I go to bed everything looks pretty, lol! At our new place the closets are HUGE with no doors so that's fab! I can't wait to more so I can make my new place all pretty. I have a feeling I'll unpack all be clothes before anything else, hehe ;o)

I do exactly the same thing - rearrange my wardrobe eight times a year. And I have the same storage problem. :) Two wardrobes are chock-a-block, and I have a freestanding garment hanger and a massive under-bed storage box full too. Wah! Love these shots.
