It's been a while since I put together a proper 1930s ensemble, but between finding this charming little blouse at last weeks estate sale and watching Poirot, I'm back in a 30s kick.
I was really excited to find this blouse, it's like something you only see in old family photos, but never in person it's of such thin fabric I'm surprised it's survived! It has a very unique collar, I would love to make another one or two like it.

Gorgeous outfit! Speaking of dressing up, I have to wear a mad men inspired outfit to my friend Mia's hen do on the weekend. Need some inspiration! I'll be checking out your blog for some :)

That's a lovely outfit - and that blouse is pretty much to-die-for. I've always wondered about white gloves though... the first thought I had was "oh her gloves will get dirty!" but I guess you wash them later :)
Perfect! What an amazing find. Lovely neat little gloves too!
Zohar, it's actually very interesting wearing white gloves, because you see all the filth you would have otherwise touched with bare hands! And I do wash them after two or three wearings :)
i love the blouse. tiny polka dots are subtle but gorgeous

Great outfit and that blouse is beautiful.
I also love Poirot, and as they often show it during the day at the weekend here (UK), it's frequently the accompaniment to my knitting or sewing activities.
Gorgeous outfit, what a beautiful blouse! Love, love, love. I would love to see a standing up photo of your skirt, it looks really well made. Great job!

That is such a lovely outfit! I love the shoes!
I love the whole outfit, but that skirt is really lovely. Did you use a pattern? If so, which one?! :)
very very pretty!! Do people ever comment on how nice your lips are? well I feel a little odd saying it, but they really work for the 30s look a lot.
These pictures are so pretty. That top is a really great find, your outfit is lovely.
Oh, my word!!! I HEART Poirot!!! Agatha Christie ROCKS!!! O.k. I'm good.
Your outfit is SUPER cute!!! And I would just like to say that whenever I watch a period movie, whether it's from the 1930's or Regency England, for at least a week after, I am prancing about the house in the appropriate garb :)
And, don't you just love garage/estate sales? I just found 3 vintage 1950's hats yesterday at a garage sale, and for dirt cheep, as well!!!! And dirt sheep suits my babysitting budget.
i love everything in this ensemble...even the curls. perfect.
I love your outfit!
That blouse is amazing! And I love the pleating on the skirt. Fabulous as always.

Just found your blog: love it! How do you style your hair? Is your hair naturally curly or do you curl (or pin curl) it?

That blouse is divine--it is an amazing find! :) Reading your post reminded me I need to get some Poirot mysteries and Jeeves and Wooster episodes out of the library. ;) hehe!
