My grandma in the 1950s and then some

Taken in 1949, look at that romper! And those shoes!

My grandma told me that this was taken on the way back from the Seattle worlds fair, at Multnomah Falls. I love this photo so much because she's wearing red keds, to match her red dress, and a darling red headband. I am now on a mission to recreate the look, just need all of the above!

Hope you enjoyed these photos, you can see my first post on my grandma with more photos here. Next time I do a family photo post it will be of photos from the 1930s of various family members, there's some really cute ones!

Everything is so cute! I love that it's all authentic vintage too, not that recreated vintage that you can buy at the mall and then distress your photo in photoshop.

Very stylish indeed! I love the shirtwaist and Keds combo. I'll be resurrecting that look as soon as I get the stains out of my white Keds/ Sigh.

Oh, these photos are just lovely!

Your grandma's romper reminds me really much of a girl's romper I came across at Etsy some time ago:

I'm very much intrigued by the pic of your gran and her girlfriend -- the eyebrows! I somehow thought everyone did a really thinly plucked arch back in the day, but -- no! That's good news, since I look really goofy with thin eyebrows. I love the whole look, especially your gran's bangs.

You've no idea how I struggle not to "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh!" when I see you did a post on old pictures, people looked soooooooooooo much better those days!
I'm a little confused though, is she the blond one on the photo's with her friend?

Wow, I can see so much of your grandma's face in yours!

That last photo - if you hadn't told us, I would've thought it was you in a cleverly distressed snapshot.

Yay old photos!

The photos are all great! I especially noticed your grandma's bangs and ponytail; she looks a lot like jazz/big band singer June Christy, who was popular in the
40s and 50s and who was well-known for that hairstyle. Aside from the music, which is wonderful, the covers of such June Christy albums as "Something Cool," "June Fair and Warmer," "Gone for the Day," "Duet" (with Stan Kenton on piano) and "The Cool School" show the hairdo and some charming 50s styles!

I'm envious of their perfect styled hair. What they must think of our messy wanna have bed hair looks.

They just seem like to glamorous girls, that i would have loved to have hung out at the malt shop with :)
