One of the great things about knit sweater dresses is that if the size is just a little off, you can do things to make them fit just right.
When I bought my green knit dress it was just a tad too tight, so I blocked it, using a spray bottle and an iron.
This dress was a little to big, so I soaked it to get the dusty smell out, and then tossed it in the dryer for about ten minutes. It shrunk just enough, and even shortened it an inch or so to a length I like better. After the dress was taken out of the dryer, I put it flat over a towel to dry, flipping it every few ours. Viola! Custom fitted sweater dress :)
I paired it with a rhinestone brooch, though it would look great with some silk flowers for spring. A little tip if heavy brooches won't stay put on a dress: Pin them to your bra strap!

That dress looks like it was made for you! Great tips on this post-I will definatly be trying the blocking with hairspray trick on a beautiful cardigan I picked up that is just too tight in the shoulders! Thanks!
Lainie, nope, please don't use hairspray, just water. Hairspray will make your clothes sticky and full of residue.

What a fabulous combination of bold colors & prints! Love the shoes too. Do you remember how much the dress shrank? 1" overall? 2" overall? And what kind of yarn is it? I'm looking at shrinking a v.similar knit dress but it is Orlon and I'll need it to shrink overall by 2"-3" so I'm wondering if I can pull off the same shrinkage trick.

Just discovered your blog recently and looking back through old post, this totally caught my eye. What a divine outfit!
And if only it were possibly to gently shrink/stretch every kind of fabric. Sure, too-large items can be taken in but there's nothing like that sheer disappointment when a beautiful dress you try on is just to small... Although, that is counter-balanced by the sheer delight and sense of fate when something fits perfectly!
