Sunny Aurora

Photobucket
It's been pretty sunny weather here lately, nice dress and cardigan weather, which is of course, the best.

Saturday was one of those days and was perfect for a little trip to Aurora Oregon with Twila Jean. The town has a bunch of little antique shop, most of which were disappointing. Waaayyyyyy overpriced, and hardly any clothes at all! I found a few little things at one antique mall though, including one of those tea cups with a saucer large enough to hold the teacup on one side and a little treat on the other :)

bummer! overpriced flea markets and antique malls are the worst; especially when you've driven a long way to get there. you look lovely, though; i love that little collar.

very pretty! I hate when places want way too much for stuff. I guess they'd rather sell one item with $300 profit than 20 items with $20 profit on each. I've always been happy to make double what I paid for something. I make money, someone gets a good deal and everyone is happy!

That dress is seriously cute! Before I even read the rest of the post I scrolled down to see where you got it.

Somehow I missed that you are an accomplished seamstress. Great job!

Ooh I love unusual colour schemes, and this pink/red/ochre combination works beautifully!

I've been searching for a double lacy collar like the one you used on that dress without luck (I assume yours is vintage?)

I love that cardigan too - once I've completed my first knitting project (which I'm still working up to starting - difficulties of finding 4-ply yarn!) I'm gonna make that my second.

Aw... too bad there weren't many finds on your outing! That's always a bit of a let-down. But I love your outfit--those sunglasses are fab! :)

I had a fruitless thrifting experience last weekend so I can relate. It's always a bit of a bummer!

Your outfit is super cute, I love the contrast between the dress and the cardigan colors. Divine!

Cardigan & a dress; my favorite combo. I went to a couple of local antique stores in my area yesterday :) which was fun. Came back with nothing :( which was not so fun.

Sassy cuteness! Hopefully, the road trip was fun enough to balance out the lack of vintage finds. :)

Loving the gorgeous outfit, I'm super lazy with accessorising, so I always love seeing what you've got on for inspiration.
Happy blogging,

I love your outfit and those sunglasses, I also dislike going somewhere and finding out the things are over priced.

You look beautiful!! I found your blog today- lovely style and brilliant photography. I am terrible on a camera- one thing holding my blogging back I think. What camera do you use?

A shame on the shopping, but it's a lovely outfit! I love the angle on the button-closure, great effect. Seems wonderful with cardigan weather, almost makes me long for spring! But that's far away, and I'm quite content with the snow staying a while longer =)

Beautiful dress too - fantastic fabric.

Not sure but it was cute none the less! Thanks for sharing :)

Fee-Bee, yes, I shortened the ribbing and body by a few inches. Super easy, just less to sew!

Rose and Ivy, thanks! It's a Canon Rebel, this photo was actually taken with Twila Jeans camera, but we essentially have the same model.

That dress is beautiful, you have lined up the striped perfecly. I have never sewn stripes but have done checks, they were a head ache to line up!!

Susan Mitchell said...

Love the dress and cardigan combination :)
When you knit the cardigan, did you use the same size needles that the pattern suggested? I am not sure if vintage needle sizes and modern are the same or not, and I would love to attempt to knit this :)

Solanah said...

Sweet Pea, on this pattern I did us the same size needles, and it worked out well, but I know that some are confusing. I have yet to attempt a pattern where the needle size needs to be altered, but I'm sure I will soon!
