Oh The Civic Theater. Why can't I live there.
I'm so glad this theater has been restored so beautifully, there are lots of old theaters at home that just sit there, waiting to be beautified and entertain the masses again. When Ruth and I walked in the lobby, we both thought it was like stepping into a scene in Moulin Rouge. The ceiling of the theater itself has fluffy clouds and stars, with a red curtain, and beautiful seats. There's even an organ for silent film events. And it's haunted. Cherry on top.

How beautiful! We have a similar Civic Theatre here in Auckland, built in 1929, I'm always excited when films or productions I want to see are screening there!
What a beautiful building. There are a lot of empty cinemas and theatres here in Manchester too, and it's such a shame they're not in use. I guess the restoration costs are too prohibitive.

What a beautiful old theatre. I love old buildings- so much history and character. I don't know if I could live in it if it is haunted though- I'm a big scaredy cat! Lol :)
Ahhh for the days when going to a movie was an event! So gorgeous. It reminds me of The Palace Theatre here in Louisville, Ky.
Oh, a haunted cinema. As far as I know, we don't have any of those here in Chicago...where we have the delightful Music Box where a twinkling ceiling...and we're looking forward to the re-opening of the Patio Theater sometime later this year. That also has a twinkling ceiling from what I understand.
We have a very very old theater in our little town of Monroe which is like the one in your pics. It even has the red velvet curtain and a scarry balcony that slants. It is still used today for live concerts, stage plays, and ballet performances which my daughter has performed in several times for ballet. It was the first theater I seen my first movie in as a child. Oh and did I mention it is haunted.

there's nothing like an old theater with a great big Wurlitzer organ. takes you right back in time!
Ooh! I want to go to there!! The Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA has been restored in a very decadent style (but not overly so). It doesn't feel as old as the theatre you're in...but it still has loads of details that modern theatres don't. If you're ever in Northern California, check it out!
