I love finding items in my closet in old ads or photos. I picked this hat up in Kansas City over the summer, and am really excited the weather is crisp enough to wear it! Flipping through a reproduction 1940s Sears catalogue recently, I found a very similar style from 1940.
And if you ever have as much trouble as I do keeping your blouse tucked into your skirt, try tucking it into your girdle instead, won't slip around!
What luck! Yes to top-securing girdles. It always makes things a little easier/more pleasant knowing that ones blouse isn't poking out in all sorts of ways, doesn't it?
That's so neat! I always hope I'll find a catalogue twin, but alas, I never have, haha. I adore your outfit and your little fox! Also, amen to tucking in your blouse into your garters-- I always feel like such a dork, but it does work like a charm!
You look so lovely! I love when you find adverts with things you've seen in them although I've never found anything featuring something I've owned - just things I've seen in antique shops etc. Also, the button detail on that skirt is so pretty.
Love that hat!! Also, love the blouse tucked it ;o) My Nanny taught me to do that when I was little. When I was doing it one day back at home my Mom and Dad started laughing and asked what I was doing, lol! I still do it anyway ;o) xo
ah! I just recently received a hat almost exactly like this one, but in burnt orange color. Thank you for posting the provenance! I had been curious about it. Also, your outfit is ah-may-zing
That outfit looks completely amazing! Love the gloves! And how nice to find your hat in that old add. I have to start looking at old adds and comparing them to my own vintage treasures :)
I always have a million layers of tights skirts top sweaters and such and I have lots of secret tricks of tucking things into other things. Makes it a bit of a chore to go to the bathroom though!!

I see I'm not the only one employing the sneaky "tuck your clothes into your underwear trick!" You look stunning as always xo
The hat is fantastic!I turn a shade of green with envy every time I see those shoes in one of your outfit posts.
That's so cool! I would love to find something I own in a vintage catalog. :)
Love it! Makes me want to go out and get a pair of gloves right now!

I cannot believe you got a pair of Chie Mihara shoes AT A YARD SALE.
Lol, I do the same thing with my shirts and Spanx.
You look amazing as per usual.
Ooh, such a good tip about the girdle. I have such a terrible time keeping my blouses tucked, so I will try this.
