I wore a lot of 70s styles in middle school. I wasn't particularly into the era as I am with the 30s, 40s, and 50s, currently, but more that was what was in style then. Flared jeans. Peasant tops. I even had a purple faux fur vest my aunt and uncle brought me back from Germany I thought was pretty cool.
Point is, I have a soft spot for 70s style. LOVE Gunne Sax. I should have more fringed things. And I do love a good jumpsuit.
Lately I've been searching for a good pair of high waist wide legged jeans, and found these at work just last week!
The hat is my new cold weather staple, it's so warm! Like when a kitty sleeps on your head.
And the blouse is something I picked up at an estate sale for 50 cents, a perfectly worn and soft blouse. Must have been a favorite of the original owners as well.
Those 70s faux fur hats are amazing...I have one that's falling apart but I still wear it and get compliments. And that sweater? What size is it? It's not cldear on the pattern...and what yarn did use?
So fun! It's really cool seeing you dressing outside of your normal style; I like challenging myself to dress outside my comfort zone too.
The 60s was my first retro fashion love (besides Victorian, if you count that!), and there's a cute 60s style pinafore dress in New Look right now, which is really tempting me!
I, too, have a soft spot in my heart for Gunne Sax and those sweet, folksy elements of 1970s fashion. :) You look so cute in those jeans, and the whole outfit is so perfectly fall-ish!
Having come of age in the 70s, I can tell you that you look perfect for that era. You would have loved my closet back then, it had a lot of Gunne Sax and high waisted jeans. I even wore a Gunne Sax dress for my wedding! I enjoy reading your blog and today it brought back some good memories.
You look amazing, I love this! I think it's great to wear things you like rather than sticking to one or two eras just because you usually wear them. And your cardigan reminds me to learn to knit in time for next winter! :D
This look is so modern despite it being completely vintage. And its funny I thought "oh she found a new mustard sweater" but its your usual one. It looks so different styled this way. p.s. you will have to show us your fuzzy vest one of these days ;)
Your style is so perfect! I love the hat and jeans too. I never could get used to jeans that sit way low on the hip, those jeans do nothing for well rounded bums!
gorgeous casual ensemble! every time i see that cardigan i become so jealous of your ability to knit so skillfully! and 50c for that shirt, outstanding!
I read about estate sales on your blog last year and quickly became an addict. I've had more luck with housewares than clothes, but recently I hit a veritable jackpot of free clothes that were just being tossed at a sale! And I thought of you. Thanks for the inspiration.

Looks really cute on you. I wore the seventies and sixties styles in elementary and middle school and got mocked a lot for it. Then it became the style in about '97. Go figure.
Hello! I love a bit of 70s too, it feels good to change things around a bit. I mentioned you and gave you an official title in todays blog post: http://intheheyday.blogspot.com/2011/11/autumn-arrives-with-thud.html Hope you don't mind!
I do love a bit of 70s. It's my favourite era and I'm a bit defensive when people put it down as the 'not so posh' end of Vintage. I love it all, from flares to slinky disco gowns!
As soon as I saw the closeup of the sleeve I thought "that HAS to be hand knit" and it is! I'm wondering what yarn you used (I'm guessing Cascade 220?) and what size needles you used, vintage patterns can be so enigmatic... Looks beautiful!!

Mmmm, I love gunne sax too. In high school I would spend hours on ebay searching for pretty dresses. My wedding dress was gunne sax!

You *made* the cardigan?? That is amazing. You are one talented lady!

Ah, what a cute outfit! You can rock any decade you choose.
Also, seeing your cardigan in recent months has definitely been seeping into my consciousness, telling me that I MUST knit something in mustard :)

Love it! Its always fun to experiment with differnt style too. The hat just adds that little bit of extra eccentricity. xx Fran
and this is why living in todays era is cooler than living in any other! You can totally switch ears whenever you want! YUS!

Oh, you know, 40s and 70s are somewhat related.
