Who wants tea?
Tea Leaves, 1909 William McGregor Paxton
This April marks the 100th year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. I'd like to commemorate the day by having some sort of period costumed gathering, and tea seems like a nice way to accomplish that. I've already researched a beautiful venue here in Vancouver Washington, and would like to gauge interest before booking it. Tickets would be approximately $25-30 for a couple hours of full service tea on Saturday April 14th.
So, anyone interested?

I'm Australian, so I'm afraid I'm little help here but I sure hope some people are interested because I'd love to see the photos! Goodluck! xoxo
Another Australian here who wishes she could afford to come to your awesome sounding tea party! Oh well, I'll live vicariously through photos! :)
I feel so awkward for saying this, but yet again another Australian! If I could attend I would jump at the opportunity, however this has inspired me to do a little gathering at a Restaurant down the road from my house which is actually called The Titanic and is a theatrical restaurant with all staff in costume and the same kind of event happening - except no one dies! It's really quite an amazing place. I remember going there when I was younger and crying because I believed I was going to die...
Sincerely,
Paris of The Vintage Look
Heck yes!!! I have a few reenacting friends in town who would love to do it as well.
Lauren, yes, please let them know!
Paris, sorry but that made me giggle! I imagine you were terrified!
Oh I would love to come!! Not sure how I could get a period costume that would fit me though. But it sounds like a fantastic idea!!!
I'd love to but I'm French!

Another Aussie here (so I won't be able to come), but I would really love to see the photos. Amazing to think that it's 100 yrs ago.
I'd love to but Vancouver is a bit far as I live in Belgium :(
What a beautiful idea x
Please make plenty of pics so we can all enjoy it from our corner of the world.
Ps: Yes I'm a Frenchi ^^
I'm a former Washingtonian, now living in the other Washington, so unfortunately won't be able to attend. However, I know how fond you are of period dramas, and speaking of the Titanic, I thought it appropriate. I highly recommend looking for the British show Downton Place. Have a look and see what you think.
OH if I didn't live on the East coast I'd SO be there. My wedding dress is 1912 (Titanic) repro - and I've only worn it the once!
If I lived there I'd definitely go.. sounds like a fun idea.. and what a lovely image/// good luck on that!
Ahh, how I wish I could come. Sounds amazing. Take lots of pics :)
sounds like a good time.Wish this Mid West gal could afford to come out but do take LOTS of photos.
Why do I live in the midwest? I would be there, with no questions, if I lived closer!
I am from Southampton in the UK where the Titanic sailed from. They are currently building a museum in the city for this particular amazing boat. They are due to open it on the day the Titanic actually sailed.
Ditto what Hosanna said! I'd love a chance to wear my wedding dress again!! If only I wasn't on the east coast...
I may be able to come. Let me know if it comes through and enough people will be able to make it! I imagine all the Portland vintagers won't want to miss out. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I'll certainly try! P.S. Have you seen Downton Abbey? Absolutely BRILLIANT costumes from the era!
Another french.... but it's a really brillant idea! You just need a boat now!!!!!

Definitely tempted, but my April is booking up quickly.
I'd love to go! It may be the day of one of my finals, though, I'll find out soon. I'm from the other Vancouver, in BC. If I can come, I'll be bringing at least one friend! (Who will probably not be in period dress.)
Sounds like a great idea, would love to do something like that. I actually dont live too far from Liverpool, England where the Titanic first sailed from so I hope there are some commemorations local to me!
oh man, i would be so interested if only I lived on the west coast! have fun!
I belong to a Titanic-era costuming group on Facebook, and I've seen posts about at least one Titanic commemorative event in Vancouver. You might want to check it out, to maximize your Titanic adventure opportunities! The group is The Unsinkables. Enjoy your tea!
I live in Vancouver Washington, not Canada. Kind of close, but a little too far of a drive for an afternoon!
Lol...well, I remembered someone posting asking about events in Vancouver, she was told about an event in Vancouver, WA, and she said that no, she meant Vancouver, Canada, so I thought the info might actually be useful to you. But when I went back and found the comments, I discovered that the Vancouver, WA event mentioned was YOUR afternoon tea! lol. So that's not a very useful piece of information for you after all! But here's what was said about something in Seattle, in case you want to do some semi-local traveling:
"On behalf of Somewhere in Time, Unlimited (aka www.CostumingInSeattle.com ) I would welcome you to any of the functions we orchestrate in the State of Washington! Presently, we have a Titanic luncheon/tea planned for April 15th in the early afternoon."
I'm in Portland and would love to attend. Please post if you decide to do it. I have a few friends that might be interested too.
