This weekend Twila Jean and I packed the kiddos up in the car and headed to Astoria Oregon to visit my brother Josh, his wife Amy, and my nephew Oliver. We left home to rain and gray skies, and arrived in town to bright sunny weather, it was perfect! They have a beautiful view from their living room of the river, and sometimes ships would pass by, a great view for relaxing and knitting.
We took advantage of the beautiful day and went to an awesome park where all the kids and grown-ups played and had fun, they have little storybook houses and a play tugboat among other standard park things.
After the park we drove up to the Astoria Column and enjoyed the view from the park grounds, there was no way I was going up in the column like last year.
Of course we had to stop in an antique store in town, and picked up some coffee on the way at Street 14 Coffee, they have great hot chocolate!
The next morning is snowed big fluffy flakes, and even though it didn't stick to the ground, it was beautiful to watch while I knit some more.
Can't wait to go back there for Thanksgiving!

A lovely post, Solanah! Wish it snowed here in Melbourne, instead we're stuck with hot weather!

Gorgeous photos, it looks like a great trip. The picture of you and Twila-Jean on the swings looks like something from the Edge of Love film - I wrote about it a few months ago, you can see the pics here :)

I can't decide what I am more envious of - your dress/welly combo or the fact that you spent the day snug and warm whilst it snowed outside!

That first photo of you is, quite possibly, one of the most beautiful I've ever seen.

Washington: one of the only places where wearing rain boots in public is socially acceptable. ;)

Garofit, I'm sorry I can't remember, but I know I got it on knitpicks.com last year.

It's quite funny -the 11th picture (from above) looks exactly like it could have been shot at a mountain where our summerhouse is, in the north of Sweden! Everything looks just right -the water, splitting up between lands, the mountains, making a dramatic, blue and green background and the the trees -not leaves, but pine's and spruce's.
It's not so strange that so many swede's emigrated to the areas around Portland for a hundred years ago, when the environment looked so much like home...

Also, you and your friend looks supercute! I love that you're wearing wellingtons with you flowery dress. A great combination!
