Xtabay Vintage
Today I visited Xtabay Vintage, a fabulous vintage store in Portland. The decor alone is work going to see, but of course, they have a wonderful selection of clothing and accessories. I tried on some really pretty 40s dresses, one had little books on it! Will a cute librarian please go buy that?
In the end I fell in love with this huge white Christian Dior hat. I'm wearing it right now actually, seeing as I can't wear it outside right now in the rain.
Liz, the owner of the shop was very helpful and fun to chat with, I had actually planned on going to her store for my wedding dress before I found mine, as they specialize in formals and weddings. I didn't really let myself look at the wall of fluffy tulles and silks, I just new I would fall in love with something and have nowhere to wear it. More of my friends need to get married so I can wear pretty dresses...
Silly them, not getting married.
They also have beautiful suits, coats, perfumes, hats, purses, shoes, lingerie, and jewelry of course! So if you are in town make sure and stop by, say hello to all the pretty dresses for me!

Oh yes, I do love that place! Got a lovely purse there the other day.
*sigh* Looks so lovely! Too bad I know I can't convince my hubby to move to the West Coast!
Wow! I would love to go there one day! I adore vintage shops!!
That place looks amazing!
WOW! How did I not go there when I was in Portland???? *sad face*
Love the knitted sailor dress you are wearing. That shoppe looks amazing, like you get some real finds.
It looks like a dream! I have a couple shops where I got just to visit the dresses, but I can't take them home because they would languish in the back of my closet, shame on your friends for not giving you an occasion to get married, they could at least set up a formal dinner party. Throw a girl a fancy bone here..
oh my the hats .. they are gorgeous ....
The Girl Who Loves Colorful Clothes
Thank you Solanah for visiting my shop today! It was so nice to officially meet you:) You are even lovelier in person....The weirdest thing happened after you left, a woman came in and sold me 2 fabulous knits, one a suit--a really cute 40's inspired St. John from the 70's and a no name black knit dress that is seriously beautiful.....you must have left a little magic in the air:)
Oh, that hat and the dress you're wearing are lovely together! What a good find that was. It looks like a really delightful shop, was it expensive?
Oh this reminds me, I need to refollow their blog (I am still following with my old ID, doh). I have always loved the pictures I've seen of this store, makes me wish I lived in Portland. Your hat is faaaabulous dahling.
I just want to get lost there...
One Word! JEALOUS! We have about 2 proper vintage stores here but it is very VERY over priced! That store looks amazing!

I was just browsing the Xtabay blog yesterday and day dreaming about one day taking a trip out there just to see all the loveliness! I adore the white hat you're sporting in the picture--so lovely!
I agree: friends need to get married more often. I have a rather alarmingly large collection of vintage cocktail dresses that I have nowhere to wear! ;) lol. Either that, or we need to bring back the formal cocktail party. hehe!

I am desperately in love with that plaid coat with the giant fur collar..
That hat looks lovely on you! and that shop looks so fun! We don't have any really great vintage shops in my town, so i'm constantly having to dig through antique malls and thrift stores.
whaat a wonderful place !
I'm so obsessed with the fur collar... To bad I can't go there.
Michelle, they have very good prices, and top notch merchandise :)
Well, this may sound a little personal.... But I hope you don't take it the wrong way.
Just outta curiosity, do you wear a special bra to make your twins look 40's style? Or are you just that way. hahaha.
I am a lingerie fanatic, not a pervert:P. It's fine if you don't want to reply.
Lola Travilla, no problem! I generally wear bullet bras, I find modern bras just too....well, they flatten, rather than lift and shape ;)
xoxo
