Saturday night I made it out to one of Julie's fabulous parties, this time with a vintage pajama dress code! It was fantastic to see all the colors, fabrics, and glamorous silhouettes all in one place. The cozy mood was set with a fire in the woodstove, fluffy pillows on the floor, and endless yummy foods and cocktails. Everyone seemed so at ease, pajamas and loungewear are definitely an icebreaker! The girls were all in loungewear and dressing gowns from the 30's to the 60's, and the boys had classic p.j.s or smoking jackets.

This is what I wore, Julie snapped the pic of me last minute (thanks Julie!), I just had to show what I wore too! I found this Thursday at Magpie, almost by chance. It was hanging on the back of a pillar, and I've been looking for a tailored wool dressing gown and loved the clean late 1930s lines. When they took it off the wall for me, I saw the polka dot silk hood and was sold! It's like something you see in old movies that you think couldn't possibly exist in the "real" vintage world. It was perfect to wear to the party too!

Harumph! No one invites ME to vintage pajama parties. Sounds oh so luxurious. With that silk hood, your dressing gown is totally reminding me of something Ginger would be basking around in in one of the 1930s, art deco style Astaire and Rogers films. Lovely!

A vintage PJ party is such a cute idea. I might have to get some vintage PJs just so I can have a reason to throw a party like that

Such a cute party idea--how fun you got to attend! Love your hooded dressing gown as well; you seriously look like a Hollywood starlet from the late 30s. ;)

That's weird I went to a pajama party on Saturday too. Although it wasn't vintage themed as most people wore onesizes.

oh, your dressing gown is divine! I love how so many late 30s/early 40s garments, from dressing gowns, to evening gowns had these dramatic hoods. Yours is particularly awesome due to those polka dots!!

What a find! You lucky thing. I have a collection of about 5 1960's peignoir's and I always think it would be great to get all the girls over to do a photoshoot in them! Its such a fun idea!

You have pretty much made me want to stop reading fashion blogs all together.

Your snarky classist attitude is REPULSIVE.

I wanted to tell you how adorable your checked dress and sweater were.
Love the polka dot scarf.

I love seeing clothes similar to what my mom wore when I was growing up.

this is great! I've been complaining lately about the lack of loungewear out there, as I feel that "at home wear" doesn't have to be schlumpy. the moment I read your pajama post, I knew I had found a blog after my own heart! If I could, I'd ban sweatpants in public too!

You all look swell, inside...

...but thanks for the post about pajamas-wearing in public! I couldn't agree more. It is really sad that people doesen't care more about themselves.
I'm not either asking people to dress like me instead, but just something that's not bed-smelly and extremely worn out (which many pajamases are). When I'm choosing my vegetables and picking my milk and cheese, I don't want to see someones ass peeking through a huge hole.

I meant hood. I love polka dots. (Didn't want you to think I'm a complete nutcase).

I've never commented on your blog before, but have been reading it for a year or two?, and I understand what you mean about caring a little bit about yourself by wearing (at the very least) something clean when you go out of the house (today I didn't get around to the ironing part). But lots of people think about themselves and how they are in the world differently.
