Not quite 40s jacket
Yesterday I found this wool jacket at Goodwill for $12.99 and was pretty excited since it looks so 40s. I'll have to work on it a bit, hem it up a few inches, take it in a teeny bit, and maybe replace the buttons with something more period, but it's a great foundation. A prime example of an article of clothing that is fairly modern (80s), but can look much older with a little work, and the right styling.

love your slacks!

Gorgeous. Looks wonderful against the fabulous teal wall. Happy New Year!
XOXO
hahah I love the vintage fashion blogging community. "This is old, but I'm going to make it look older" :D it's too great!
Very cool - when I worked in a costume shop (on an extreme budget), my boss used to always get 80s/90s pieces from the thrift store and alter them. Totally the way to go.
wow! i love it. it works well with your slacks. I also have many pieces from the 80s that I have altered to look more period correct. Can't wait to see your finishing result.
Loving the look! I've had a few items from the 40s that I actually thought were from the 80s, so it was quite a surprise realising they're 40 years older than I thought!

I agree, great piece that totally looks vintage depending on how you wear it and fix it up.
It's gorgeous. I love finds like that. Forties stuff is quite expensive here so modern styled stiff are precious finds!
you look so cute...
I love adding vintage details to later garments! That jacket is so nice!

That's such a great photo! And I love the jacket.
I love your hat. would like to have a closer pic. The blue background is gorgeous. Hugs from Germany!
Great find for you to work on and I love that color wall you found to photograph!
darling! I love goodwill finds :)
I love that fashion tends to repeat itself. I found an 80's shirt dress that, with the right accessories (change the belt and add some petticoats), looks quite 40's/50's. It seems the 80's had a lot of inspiration from the 40's.
Love the jacket, love the pants and especially love the hat! Such a perfect fall/winter look.
