Here's some more photos from our weekend, we went twice to The Astoria Coffee House and Bistro, for a delicious breakfast and lunch. Food was great, service was great, and it was darling too! It passed my three tests for a good eatery: Excellent bacon, savory mac and cheese, and creamy hot chocolate.
Our last day there we watched a pretty doe who had jumped the fence into the yard. It was pretty awesome to wash dishes and have a staring contest with a doe just feet away from the window.
On our way out of town we stopped at my favorite creepy old house, a beautiful Victorian that is completely in shambles. The trees, grass, and vines are so out of control you can barely see the house from the road. It's extra creepy that there's still things in the house, like curtains and candlesticks. As much as I would love to see it cleaned up, I love the mystery of it as is.

Oh, I love falling-down houses. We had some great ones nearby that got pulled down recently, and I had a very hard time resisting the urge to go see if there was anything cool inside I could scavenge before they were gone. But they were pulled down for being massively structurally unsound, so that might not have been wise.

I have that same house posted on my blog! Your pics are so much better. I had to get a drive by shot with the man behind the wheel. He's no fun sometimes. I love that house. I want it. Even more, I want to know the story behind it.

I love the bridge in the background. Last summer we went on a 2 week RV trip around the WA peninsula and some of Oregon, so we traversed that bridge. I'm definitely planning on going back to Astoria on my Winnebago trip. The Washington coast is so gorgeous, and I've never been down the Oregon coast!

Beautiful photos! I am completely fascinated by Astoria, particularly that amazing bridge. It was one of my favorite Oregon places.
This is what I know about the house. We were told by the Realtor when we were shopping for our house in Astoria that it was and still is owned by the Flavel family. The same family that lived in the Flavel House. (Now a museum) We were interested in a house just a few doors up from there, but ultimately couldn't afford it. The Realtor told us that the house had (obviously) been that way for a long time and the family really had no interest any longer in taking care of it as they lived somewhere else. (and apparently had the money to let it go!)
The house sounds awesome, but I am also impressed with the art on the blackboard menu. makes me want to paint a wall of my house with that blackboard paint and have a new mural everyday.
