Mrs. Dapper as Hell
A few days ago Lulu Letty posted these pictures, of some great mens fashions, the type that are just irresistible. Lucky for me, my Dapper as Hell husband has great taste in clothing, and loves three piece suits, nice silk ties, and Stetson fedoras. So today I decided to raid his wardrobe, as we keep separate closets.
Now, I have wanted to do so before, but I have to say, whenever I open the closet doors, I feel I might faint, like those ladies in old films who see something so shocking, they just gasp and collapse in an elegant heap. It's a mess of wools and cashmeres, button up shirts crumpled on the floor, and hangers tangled without anything on them. The only things that are safe are the ties. Sam takes care of his ties.
So, I just stick to my slightly neat closet (the shoes get a little messy sometimes), and pretend Sams closet is "The Red Door". But today I dug through and found a pair of vintage suit pants he wears often, with some braces (the suspenders with the button holes) still attached. I paired it with one of my frilly-ish blouses, his newsboy cap, and my converse high tops. I did have on heels at one point, which I liked better, but they were not so comfy.
Thank you Ruth for taking pictures!

Menswear inspired outfits just get me all agleam and ready to dress up and pretend I'm one of those heroines in the YA novels I used to read growing up who disguised themselves as choir boys in 19th century Europe and stayed in boarding schools and the like. Love it.

So cute! I've been wearing suspenders a lot lately as well, it gives a look tat extra oompf :)
You look soooo adorable. I love it! You should raid his closet more often, even if it is a little scary. :)
Oh, that is just adorable! Ya know, I think that blouse would pair quite nicely with a vest.
This is perfect! I've recently raided my dad's bowtie stash and have been clipping them onto all of my ruffly blouses.
And I have to say, I would love to be best friends with you and your husband. Between the vintage, ties, Doctor Who, and Miss Marple; you seem like a couple of people who I would have a fantastic time chatting with
New follower here! I love these photos of you, let me just say you look adorable in your husbands trousers! :)
Fantastic outfit. I love men's style, too (but very rarely use it for inspiration in my own outfits, I think). I especially like that you used one of your own blouses, though.

Hi, i just wanted to thank you for posting that blog about "The Bombshell Manuel of Style" book. If it wasn't for your blog, i wouldn't have known about it, and its by far one of my favorite books. It helped me with my fashion style. Thanks so much for the effort and time you put into your blog. Its greatly appreciated :)
Oh how I wish I could look as fabulous in menswear as you do! I've been snooping on your blog for some time, and I love the incredible collection of vintage wear you own and how committed you are to wearing it beautifully!
Gasp! How wonderful to see menswear worn so stylishly. I adore adding these types of elements into a wardrobe. Applause applause!!
Love love love. This is one of the most inspiring and favorite ensembles of yours. These photos remind me of my desire to make some 1930's style skirts with suspenders. Why are suspenders so fun?
