Fairy tale dress

This dress is so dreamy, it reminds me of Sleeping Beauty for some reason. And of course a light petticoat makes in even more fairy like.

Dress and glasses: The Red Light

Hat and gloves: I dunno

Victorian brooch: An Engagement gift from my boss

Man, I love all your petticoats. I will fully admit to wanting more than one, especially when I see how cleverly you pair colored ones with more neutral dresses. I have been looking for some (not a great vintage resource around these parts I live in) and even thought about making one of my own based off some vintage patterns.

What are your tips for buying petticoats and wearing them?

Thanks in advanced for any help you or other people who comment might give. All the advice will be very much appreciated.

Eme, I would only say that you should buy a petticoat that is the correct length. modern ones are too short, it's the real 50s ones you want to look out for. Christian Dior recommends you make your own petticoat since your unique body and outfits will require a tailor made petticoat. You don't want one that is too short or too long. Also factor in the fullness. A true circle skirt can be supported by a very full petticoat, but one gathered or pleated like the one in this post needs just a bit of fluff :)

I love that dress! Wonderful! Hmm, I actually think I have a pattern from the late 40s that looks very similar... I got to try to make one! =)

You look so lovely--just like you stepped out of a fairytale! :) I especially love the bodice shaping--I just adore how fitted and flattering dresses were during this era. :)
