Golden girl

Here is the 1950s dress I got Saturday, it's one of my favorites, I wish I had one in every color! The wrap style is always so flattering, and this sleeve length is my favorite. A good fitted sleeve is so underestimated.

Today I went to the other Buffalo Exchange location with my mother and Sam and we got $87 in trade! Woohoo! I got a sweater vest with hunting dogs on it for my 1930s fox hunts, and a little velvet hat and seamed fishnets. Sam got a really nice fall jacket and my mother a beautiful leopard one.
The other day I cleaned out my closet and brought out cardigans and put away cotton dresses. I had 37 by the way, someone asked a while ago. Thats not counting my fall dresses which are still in storage (wool). So I had 37 dresses, and a bunch of blouses and skirts all stuffed into a six foot closet. I would not recommend it. But now that I have picked out a light fall wardrobe I see the weeks weather predicts high 70 degrees. Thanks universe.

Dress: Buffalo Exchange

Hat: The Urban Eccentric

Shoes: The Nordstrom Rack

Glasses: Camas Antique Mall

That is definitely a fantastic find! You look magnificent! My roommates and I have decided to take an impromptu trip up to Portland next weekend so that I could try my hand at shopping in the area (you always seem to find such amazing things!). Maybe I'll get lucky and stumble across a dress as great as yours :) Any good vintage store suggestions for me?

Wrap dresses are so flattering, and that colour is lovely on you! I totally agree about the importance of a fitted sleeve. I think I just mucked up my last sewing project by nor paying enough attention to the sleeves. Oh well. Loving the hat!

Gorgeous dress, it looks stunning on you! Apparently mustard is going to be very big this fall. I saw some mustard trousers somewhere a few days ago and can't remember where but now I wish I had gotten them!

That golden dress is stunning. What kind of fabric is it made of? Knit? Wishing I could duplicate it...

Hanne, You should go to the Hawthorne area and check out The Red light and Buffalo Exchange. There are more vintage stores in that area but I've never been to them, you could go to them and tell me how they are ;)

My favorite Portland vintage store is Magpie vintage downtown. They always have something I want, and the prices are fair, not cheap like The Red light and Buffalo, but low enough that even a cheap gal like me will pay for something fabulous.

And if you just want to be surrounded by beauty stop by Flutter

http://www.flutterclutter.com/shop/shop.php

It has some vintage, but is just a mix of anything and everything wonderful, my number one inspirational shop.

Here's a great blog too you can see some Portland vintage shops:

Have fun!

PaisleyApron, The dress looks knit (I love knit dresses so much) but it's more of a yarn weave.

Thanks for your comments everyone, I'm so wary of having yellow in my closet, but I just couldn't pass up this beauty.

What a gorgeous dress, really suits you, especially with the black accessories. That mustard shade of yellow is definetly not a colour you need to avoid, at least not in my opinion. Looks great with your hair and everything...

Amazing dress! It has the most wonderful shade of golden mustard(does that actually exist??). Ans yes, fall can be tricky! I'm not ready to pack any summer dresses yet, though I should get out my cardigans... oh well
