On the road {New Mexico-Arizona}
We stopped in Albuquerque for a few hours, what a pretty plaza it has! Lunch was had at La Placita, just about the best Mexican food I've ever had. And cute to boot!
I love tourist shops, and there were so many of them. Ruth and I picked up an "Indian Headdress" kit somewhere in New Mexico, and that entertained us for a while.
We also went to El Rancho Hotel, a historic celebrity hot spot that once hosted the likes of Katherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Mae West, Jimmy Stewart.
I could go on.
Even if you don't stay at the hotel you can look around the lobby, and upstairs there are signed photos of many golden era celebrities lining the walls. Also, I'm really in love with the lounge/bar/stage thingy with the red curtain. I can only imagine the fantastic events that went on there way back when.

Road trip! Love your boots- when I was in college I had a pair of dusty raspberry suede motorcycle boots. I loved those things. Wore then until they fell apart.
Thanks doll,

Oh my goodness I love that top photo!!!! I'm loving all the trip photos! Hope you're having lots of fun!
Love your boots and I'd like one of each of those moccasins!
How I love all your trip photos!! They have me hankering for a roadtrip of my own :)
And I LOVE El Rancho too; I've eaten there a few times, though have yet to spend the night (someday soon!). Ahh I almost died the first time I walked in, it's just such an aesthetic dreamland. The town of Gallup is pretty neat too.
AWESOME!!!! You know, that lady in the painting looks like you!
Glad you stopped in my neck of the woods in Albuquerque! Old Town is definitely a cute area. Glad you enjoyed it :)
I adore that I've gotten to be an armchair traveler this week through your fantastic trip photos. So fun, inspiring, and enjoyable!
I love (!) your blue plaid dress here. As with so many things you wear, the moment I saw it, I realized that I need a similar piece in my own wardrobe. You're such an awesome fashion muse, dear gal.
Thank you very much for your blog comments today. I adore it when you stop by for a visit. The grey wall photos are amongst my favorites, too. At the time I posted them, they were my very faves, but we recently did a shoot in an orchard that will be going up towards the end of the month, and some of those are firm faves, too, so maybe the grey wall and those shots will have to be tied as my faves :)
Wishing you the bestest evening,
♥ Jessica
wow solonah you are livin' the dream! man i want so bad to go there too! could you please take some pics of ruth too? I'm sure you all are having so much fun! i love your trip photos and i love the southwest!
WOW, the lobby is amazing. I adore your dress and boots, you look like you belong in those vintage photos.
This is so special. Thank you for reminding me of some wonderful memories! I stopped there six years ago on the way to Los Angeles from Nashville, and I still remember my fantastic meal at La Placita and the sanctuary at the church next door. My mother and I prayed together there; my aunt was very sick at the time. Your pictures are wonderful and capture the place perfectly; I recognized it all immediately. Are the vendors still sitting outside on blankets? Did you hear the story about the fancy staircase at La Placita?
I really need to make that trip again. Thank you for reminding me! Safe and happy travels to you. I'm looking forward to seeing your next stop! <3 jen @ stuffjendid
oo! lovely pictures. when I go to america, I'd love to pass through Albuquerque, mainly so that I could say "we shoulda taken that left turn at Albuquerque." Lovely plaid!

These are great pics! I'm going through there this summer so this gives me some inspiration. I hope to find some moccasins too!
This is why I want to see America, amazing and you look adorable xx
That first picture looks like it could be a postcard! And did you buy the same dress in two colours or am I losing my mind?
I did get it in two colors! It's just so cute I couldn't resist!
Thanks for the comments everyone, we're having so much fun!

Wow, what an amazing trip! How many destination do you plan to visit during the journey?
Wow, beautiful hotel! Love your pictures! Liz
I'm loving your trip posts! I'm about to leave California on a road trip to Wisconsin, which probably won't involve nearly as many touristy stops. Your fun travel pictures are making me even more excited to go on my trip :)
I want that waitress photo!! I love Albuquerque! I'd love to go back there someday.
I love the Indian headdress idea. I live about an hour away from the Cherokee Indian reservation here in NC! How cool to see it all the way out there in Albq!
The painting struck me exactly as Baron Von Vintage... I thought 'Whoa! That looks like you!'
Wow, the hotel lobby is amazing and I just love the old shot of the dancers!
more amazing shots! thanks for sharing the pix of your roadtrip
Funny story- I'm a huge movie fan but had no idea what the El Rancho was. We chose to stay there when going to a job interview only because we kept seeing signs for it (It could rival Wall Drug in that department). It was fun though!
Lovely! So glad I found your blog! And now I'm craving mexican.... :)
YOU WERE HERE???? We could have met up at Old Town! That would have been awesome! :-)
Thanks for sharing that...I dream about a road trip like that! xx
I have that dress too! I love it so much I've been stalking eBay for the reddish version that sold at the same time. Looks super cute on you!
Yay New Mexico, one of my favorite places on the planet. :) Love the photos, especially the one by the plaza sign.
I am so envious of this road trip. I am a northern neighbor up in BC. When the roads are clear of ice, I get wander lust bad. You are making my favorite kind of trip in a favorite part of the country. Sigh. Thanks for sharing so that I can enjoy vicariously.
