This weekend I was lucky enough to find four 1940s yearbooks, and one 1950s, and have been pining over the casual little high school outfits the girls wore. I'll be sharing scans of the yearbooks soon, especially of some of the pretty hairstyles in the headshots.

Arg! Stop being so adorable! I am quite jealous :)
How do you do it? I just don't know. The slacks! Incredible! I thought immediately of Katherine Hepburn.
Agreed! The casual stuff is harder to find!I love my vintage but a dress and heels isn't always practical when taking my kids to the park so trying to find vintage casual is a chore sometimes because I don't want to give up my style but do love a more relaxed look too.Like today I'm sure I looked slightly silly going down the slide in a 40s house dress, even though I did feel like I slightly won the casual look as I wore flats, haha! As always you look fantastic
Love it!
so pretty! love the hair!
I agree with Maggie - I really don't know how you do it. You make it look so effortless! Your use of colour (the way the hair tie picks up the colour of the jacket) is amazing. You are very talented.
Ooooh, Can't wait for 1940s yearbook scans!
*swoon*
The outfit is mens style but with the headband/ bow it is so girly. Love it !

Beautiful, and I love all the complimentary colours.
Ooh I can't wait to see the yearbook scans!
And I agree that vintage casualwear is rare treasure indeed. Love those slouchy slacks - they look so comfortable! I'm still working up to a foray into the world of trousers - I haven't worn actual trousers since I was about 15! Except jeans for the cold, but even they've been banished from my life until I can find (or make) a good pair of 40s or 50s jeans.

What lipstick are you wearing?
There is not one thing of this outfit that I'm not absolutely in love with!
I adore vintage casual clothing and admit I prefer that in most cases to the more fancy dresses, skirts and frills.
I love the pants!!!xoxox Do you think you'll ever do custom orders of pants or if not, recommend one who does?
I just discovered your blog yesterday and I have to say I am smitten! I absolutely adore your style and perspective on life and fashion. I have a unwavering desire to search out any vintage shops in my area to find some fabulous new things to add to my wardrobe thanks to you!
I agree...casual vintage (especially the eras you prefer) is super difficult! I think you've pulled it off well as always and look very adorable.
Can't wait to see the yearbook scans. My Grandmother was in high school in the late 1930s-early 1940s and I love looking through her yearbooks.

Your hair is beyond gorgeous. So soft and effortless!
I love old yearbooks! I scored two from the '40s a couple of weeks ago, and the pictures are so fantastic.
WOW, these colors are fantastic!!!!!!!!!!
It's amazing that you managed to find all this fabulous clothes. You look gorgeous.
Your hair looks adorable! So cute but casual. Would you mind doing a tutorial on how to do such a turban?
I love your look! I've long admired 1940s fashion, but never really thought about the fact that even most vintage reproduction designers don't really make casual wear. You wear it well!!

Linette, I don't remember sorry :(
Solanah, you might be the best dressed woman I have ever seen. I'm not easily impressed, but your photos knock me down with astonishment every single time.
That you also can dress vintage in a casual way is la grande final; you are so right about it being quite difficult.
Applause!
