It's cold by the river

Throughout the day I think of little things to blog about, this and that, people I should promote, products you should know about, new blogs I've come across. And yet at the end of the day my brain kind of gets taken off with my hat and all I can think of is, here's what I wore today.

So here's what I wore today:

Anthropologie jacket-Buffalo Exchange on Hawthorne, Portland OR

1950s cashmere sweater-Flashback vintage, California

1930s Jantzen skirt-The Urban Eccentric

Austrian hat-Buffalo Exchange on Haight Ashbury, San Francisco CA

Cotton "Stockings"-Sock Dreams

Boots and gloves-Thrifted

Bag-Michael Kors

What an adorable outfit! It goes well with the fantastic fall weather thats been hanging around lately. You always look so smashing. You ALSO seem to know a lot about how to take care of vintage clothing properly. I have a couple of velvet skirts and dresses from the 40s, and I dont know how to wash them. Do you know how to wash velvet without ruining it?

Thanks!

Ooo, thats a tough one. Silk velvet I'm guessing? If so you have no choice other than dry cleaning, and if you do that make sure the cleaner knows how fragile and aged the fabric is. But never EVER get silk velvet wet, it ruins it!

Well, you look hot enough to create a spontaneous steam bath.

Great outfit - love the little bit of 'red' peeking out from underneath the coat!

What an adorable skirt! I'm just about to sew a new dress and suddenly I find myself inspired to make it a bit tighter over the hips than originally planned... =)

That looks like the perfect autumn outfit. As it gets colder, I find it hard to keep warm, but it looks like you have done it!

Cheers!

Silly question, but are plaid wool skirts vintage? My mom owned one in the 70s, but the modern ones don't have the same feel.

Perfection. I'm smitten with your look!

Feathergirl, the difference might just be in the quality of wool.
