Sunny days and giant hats
I got a new lacy petticoat last week, so thats how this outfit started. Playing around with it, I realized it was like a circle skirt, perfect for layering, something I haven't done before. So I put another red petticoat underneath and voila! Extra fluffy. I can put more under too, but that will have to wait for a circle skirt.
Then came the dress, a fabulous frock from Fab Gabs, I put on to model and didn't want to take off. So it came home with me.
And while looking for a hat, I saw this wonderful Christian Dior from Xtabay and knew it would be perfect.
Perfect for an unusually sunny and warm Saturday. I would like more of those please.

Easter Sunday
Easter was a busy day, we had breakfast with Sams family, lunch with my family, and dinner with friends. I must say I can't imagine how those socialites in days past handled so many social calls in one day all the time. No wonder they had fainting chairs!
This is what I wore to lunch at my Aunts house. I've had these wax orange blossoms from the 1920s packed away for years, and thought it was high time they saw the light of day. It's too bad they're so delicate, they would be pretty to wear all the time :)
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

To grandmothers house we go
Here's some pictures of my grandmother's house, and what I usually wear for relaxed family gatherings. The framed photo in the next picture is of my grandma and grandpa :)

Saturday stroll
Saturdays Sam and I both have the day off from work, so we usually stay home, or stay around town, at least while it's still dreary out. This weekend I had to get some fresh air, so we went for a walk in a nearby neighborhood that has lots of nice old houses, and big mossy trees. We met some new kitties, saw lots of flowers, and I pouted when I saw an old bungalo for sale that advertised "Newly remodeled!"
We also stopped by our old alley and took some pics, I miss that backdrop so much! It was perfect.
This is what I've been wearing a lot lately, it's that time of year where I'm uninspired to make much of an effort. Black cigarette pants and a striped shirt are something I know looks good and I don't have to think about it. And for the winter chill still in the air I added one of Sam's jackets and a hat I just got, which is luckily too small for Sam so he can't steal it ;)
Also, a candid set of me attempting to sit on a wall. Or rather "pictures of me falling into strangers yards". (We laughed for quite a bit, hehe)

Baby it's still cold outside
Today I visited some local vintage shops I had yet to go to (they're fairly new), and found something at each of them! I found this sporty little 1950s jacket at "The Vintage Connection", a mostly furniture shop, with some clothing. I thought is was another cute little rare casual gem, though I do feel like I should be doing some sort of outdoorsy thing. Like drinking coco in a mountain lodge ;)
My aunt said it looks like something a Matterhorn ride attendant would wear in 1950s Disneyland. Which got us thinking to where all those cute little vintage costumes are now. Disneyland basement? I must know.
Anyway, hope you like my little casual wear, I enjoy sharing them a bit more than formal stuff, just because I never see them as much. And it's nice to break the stereotype that all women in the 50s wore girdles and heels every waking hour. They liked comfort too :)

What's old is new again
Back to bangs!
I feel more like myself now. I'm keeping them longer this time, more Chuck and less Bettie.
Also, something I don't think I've ever mentioned before, bloomers! I wear them every day with skirts or dresses, you never know when a gust of wind will attack, so they're good to have. I've seen way too many knickers on girls who don't know how to wear a dress, better safe than sorry!
Later edit: I had a feeling some people would overanalyze my words, perhaps this is the reason I am a quiet person when I'm not behind a computer? I did not mean to offend anyone, when I say "don't know how to wear a skirt" I mean sitting with legs spread open, bouncing up stairs to the point where skirts spring up, revealing everything, things like that. These, and more, are all situations I've unintentionally seen, and I like to learn from mine, and other people's mishaps. So I started wearing bloomers for modesty's sake. Some people wear shorts, shapewear, slips, or are simply just self aware and careful, but at work I'm kneeling down, climbing up ladders, sitting on stools, and don't want to accidentally show a customer anything other than my knees. Bloomers are a security, one less thing to worry about, so I wear them. Do I think people who don't wear bloomers are less stylish or modest? Of course not. I simply mentioned them because I know a lot of girls have issues with wearing dresses because there can be little mishaps, and mannerisms you have to get used to. I thought it might help someone know that you can still wear a dress and not have to worry about silly little things. Thats all.

Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks is on Netflix streaming!
Sam and I spent Saturday watching some of the first season. We were introduced to it by my brother a couple of winters ago, and when you watch it with him, you get the inside scoop on everything :)
I guess I could best describe it as a quirky show, about a small northwest logging town (woooo! represent!), which is struck with the murder of a young high school girl. The investigation uncovers loads of small town secrets, backwards talking dreams, and endless coffee and doughnuts.
So if you haven't seen it, give it a try, if you have, then I'm sure you won't mind watching it again ;)

Here's a pic of me and my brother at one of the locations of the show. No dead bodies though.
