Cocktail capes

Photobucket

Tonight I joined Julie and Janey for cocktails at The Teardrop Lounge and The Driftwood Room in The Hotel deLuxe

The hotel the bar was full, so we lounged in the lobby under giant screen shots of movie stars and chatted about Batman and old movies.

It was after a day of shooting for Fab Gabs, so my hair was magically styled by Kristen. I couldn't have such amazing hair and not go out. Detail shots of it later, I promise!

Actually, last week we all decided since we have furry capes, we should wear them together, which prompted the evening out.  We had so much fun, and the hotel is simply beautiful, I was actually glad the bar was full so we could hang out in the lobby!

Basement dwellers

Photobucket

I rearranged the basement today, after purchasing some new drinking glasses.

That's normal right?

Mostly I put together a temporary bar, and shifted some sewing area stuff.

I really regret not buying that beautiful deco bar at an estate sale when I had the chance! But that's just one on my long list of estate sale regrets.

Since we live with my grandma some of the things in the basement are hers, like some pictures, and the bedroom set (look at that huge mirror!).

Have a good weekend!

A stocking dryer hangs little hats really well up on the ceiling.

Sams shoe rack is an old CD shelf. Photobucket
Thin velvet hangers are my new best friend. I can fit twice as much on racks, and things don't slip. Photobucket
My hide-a-way sewing table doubles as a writing desk. Photobucket
Anchor magazine rack (!!!) is currently utilized as a knitting station. Photobucket
A vintage vanity is the base for our "bar". Everything kind of fits together like a puzzle, magazines in the metal stand, glasses and games on the shelf, bottles on the tray! Photobucket
Before we moved in I painted the bathroom. It was the only room in the house that just looked really, really sad. And since I've never been able to paint anywhere we lived, I took full advantage of that! It's a design I saw in a magazines years ago, and I really like the result! Photobucket
No space left unused. Photobucket
Two crates are a perfect fit for this traincase and sewing basket. I have my mending kit on top, thread in the middle, and little sewing projects at the base. Easy grab things I use often.

Roadtrip {Rout 66 Signs}

Photobucket

Road trip has come to a close, but I wanted to share some old signage with you. We just don't see much of this type of novelty here, but along rout 66, old hotel and restaurant sings are either left to the elements (along with the buildings), or restored and appreciated. But mostly forgotten with time, which is a shame. So go out and see them before they're gone! This is just a small fraction of what we passes, you could spend weeks just hopping from town to town photographing signs, there are so many gems out there! Hope you enjoy!
