I have a big ol' box full of paper things from travel, concerts, letters, etc. It seems pointless that they sit in a closet, so I wanted to ask, what do you do with things like this? Fame? Scrapbook? Are your walls one big bulletin board?
When I was a teenager and young adult, I used to keep a journal and alongside my words I would stick in things such as this, as well as pretty scraps and words I tore out of magazines. My journals were really special things, when I think back to it, and I sometimes wonder if I should re-establish them, partly as a set place to store all the bits and pieces from places and events that I collect. For the moment mine are, like yours, just in a box. Many of them aren't that pretty though, so for me, they're just a nice collection to be able to sift through and reminisce over.
I've purchased a little ticket stub scrap book where I save show stubs. I have started to get rid of playbills and programs and such. The stub usually reminds me of the special time without too much clutter.
I use Smash books for for birth/wedding announcements, travel souvenirs, ticket stubs, set lists, and anything else I want to tack down and keep. They're great if you're new to paper crafting. Plus, they come in cute themes and have cute accessories.
I'm still trying to figure out what to do with things like this. I LOVE the idea of putting a collage of items on top of a coffee table and covering it with glass. That way you get to display and protect the items instead of packing them away...
Some things (the larger items, usually, or a collection of smaller items) I frame and hang around the house. All the small bits like ticket stubs and flyers get put into a scrapbook.
I'm saving mine for potential future collages. I still live at home, but I figured they're worth saving for a larger place. I'll have to make a pact to let go of them if I leave them idle for more than two years or something, though. Otherwise it's just clutter.
If the items are sturdy (aka, haven't turned fragile and apt to crumble due to advanced age), I'm quite partial to stringing up a clothes line (or even a length of pretty coloured baker's twine) and displaying some of these kinds of pieces from it with clothes pegs. This way you can easily swap pieces in and out, create seasonal or event centered displays, etc at a moment's notice.
This is awesome, and funnily enough I am the same way! I keep everything. I usually scrap book all my tickets, momentos and random paper ephemera into my journal once I have enough to fill a page. If they paper is too large, then I post it on my walls or around my mirror!
I also collect things like concert tickets and travelling things and funny receipts, some smaller ones I keep in my wallet but I have been thinking about putting them all to my scrap book. I can't throw them away, they are like memories!
I made my husband a framed collage of all of our movie tix/play stubs since that's been one of our interests for the last 10 years of being together. I gave it to him as an Xmas present (last year), and he loved it! Neat seeing all of the various events we've been to :) I think you've hit on a tough subject but one in which you can really have fun exploring.
I always scrapbook things like this so that they're always in one place and there for me to flick through on those days where I'm feeling a little nostalgic :) x fiveonecouture.blogspot.co.uk
I have years of precious finds such as these... I pin them on bulletin boards until they are four or five layers deep and then eventually, for one reason or another, I take it all off and put the wrinkled masses into a shoebox. Dusty crumpled shoeboxes in the closet. Have been doing it since 1982... looking through boxes are like little vignettes of my life. I wish I had a better solution for ya... but It seems I am in the same boat as you!
I have the same problem! I gather and gather them... I am attempting to put them in Smash Books and do my own version of Project Life (I don't want to scrapbook every week, just what I feel like, but I like that it's mini scrapbooking instead of a whole page)
I had lots of travel related paper from a Europe travel trip myself and my partner did. We turned it all into a scrapbook. Although, we found that scrapbooks that you could buy just weren't big enough, so we ended up buying a sketchpad from an arts and crafts place. The sketchpad was made from card rather than paper so it was much easier to work with and more stable.
I'm currently in the middle of a blog series about our trip and plan to post some of the scrapbook pictures at the end of the series. Feel free to come take a look.

Oh, but postcards, as carefully selected mini works of art that also remind me of adventures, they go up on cupboard doors.

Could you do like a decoupage room divider type thing with them? I always mean to do stuff like that and never get round to it.

For ticket stubs, I have a mason jar which I keep them in.

I've been terribly lazy about scrapbooking mine. A very large pile has amassed now.
You could create a bunting with them.

A friend of mine puts all her ephemera on a bulletin board then yearly at Rosh Hashana puts it into a scrapbook. Seems like a lovely idea.
