What is it about gingham...

I found this dress at work the other day and had to get it (wow, I feel like a say that exact sentence way too much). I have a pretty black and white gingham dress my auntie gave me, but it's a sleeveless summer dress, and I save those for warmer weather. For spring I paired it with a fluffy pink petticoat, and black beret, but I think it will be nice in fall too with a wooly sweater and boots!
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend, I took a little break from blogging and finished my kitty dress (it's as cute as it sounds, or awful, depending on how much you like kitties, hehe), baked some yummy bread, cleaned a bit, and watched I Capture The Castle, and Penelope. The former had nice 30s inspiration, and the latter was just darling, I recommend it, especially if you have young girls, it has a nice "moral of the story".
It's been raining a lot (my hair got a bit wet when I was taking pictures), and tonight when my family met up for dinner, there was a huge, full rainbow right outside the window, nice view huh?

Lovely find, gingham is a classic! I also like your pink petticoat, finally found a vintage petticoat for myself this weekend so now all my '50s dresses will have their proper poofyness. Can't wait to see your kitty dress.

My moms wedding dress was red gingham, floor length and from the 70's. I wish I had it, it was so, over the top! I love seeing your pictures/views of my home town/stomping grounds! It makes me home sick. I grew up on 18th and Kauffman! There is no way I could work at the Urban eccentric and not take things home everyday, luckily the prices are so great! You look darling! :)

I know EXACTLY what you mean about gingham. There's just something about it. I have a black and white dress that's a lovely shape and so simply cut. Gotta love a cheeky bit of gingham!

Gingham always makes me think of picnics. Which is why I think they're so perfect for spring and summer.

Well I like kitties an awful lot (in fact, I'm on third of an unofficial Cat Club with allthishappiness and fieldguided) so I can't wait to see this dress! I believe it's going to be the most perfect thing ever.

That dress is lovely. It looks like it was made for you. :)

I adore that dress! And those two movies sound good. I love Christina Ricci and was intrigued by Penelope and I simply adore Rose Byrne to bits so I Capture the Castle might also be a must see for me.

A darling dress on you! I can see why you had to get it =)
The rainbow is just magical. Sunshine mixed with dark, heavy clouds, and a perfect rainbow is enough to get me thinking about chasing the roots of the rainbow and all the fantastical things one must be able to find there =)

That dress is just amazing! I love the way the style imitates a wrap dress a bit, and the asymmetric buttons down the front...

I bought a few yards of gingham recently, and am definitely going to make it into a vintage-inspired dress - as soon as finals are over and I have time!
