Elizabeth Bennet

I know I said I was going to be a spiderweb for Halloween this year, but the other day I found this beautiful vintage costume which is so Elizabeth Bennet, and required much less work ;)
Everything but the skirt seams are hand stitched, with some smocking here and there, I just love that there's that detail on a costume, we don't even have that on modern everyday clothes!

Pride and Prejudice has been my favorite book since I first read it at 14, and I just can't help but buy more and more copies of the novel. This one is my favorite, it's a beautiful hardback I got at an antique show, but I still have that very worn copy I carried around in high school.

I hope everyone will have a nice Halloween weekend, I'm off to a party at Twila Jean's house, but Halloween night will be spent watching another episode of Sherlock Holmes with kitty and a cup of tea :)

Happy Halloween!

that costume is darling. I love the detailing and the cheery color! Hasn't Sherlock been quite delightful? I love British programming.

Amazing costume :) Pride and Prejudice is my favorite. I've always wanted to be Elizabeth Bennett for Halloween but couldn't find a good cheep dress that work and don't have the skills to make one myself ;)

adorable! Jane Austen is probably my favorite author :) I think Since and Sensibility is my favorite of all time, closely followed by Pride and Prejudice of course

Just Lovely! The work and details put into vintage costumes is really remarkable. I have a witches costume my great grandma made for my mom, and it is all hand sewn and full of pleats as well! Pride and Prejudice is my favorite as well. Like you I have several copies of the book, and pretty much every verion of the film, including 2 of the 3 BBC adaptations! You look charming!

That is a really beautiful dress. Also just to let you know they are going to be making a second series of Sherlock Holmes.

Quite a shift from a spiderweb!! Elizabeth Bennet suits you perfectly. You can walk around the room at your Halloween party and recite lines from Pride and Prejudice. :)

Happy Halloween!

eeeeeek. I love your outfit and my initial plan for tonight was to watch sherlock. I fell in love with the novels a year ago and this show is a really good rendition. I also LOVE your dress. Smiles for vintage. :)

Brilliant :) I have some dog eared books I have reread so many times I can't carry them in public anymore. It 's too embarassing with all the stains and ehem.. underlining.

Wow, what a wonderful costume! I'm also a big Jane Austen fan. Think I marginally prefer Northanger Abbey to Pride and Prejudice, but it's close!

Love it! Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books of all time. I thought about being Jane Austen this year but couldn't come up with anything suitable from what I had in my wardrobe. :/

Pretty, but looks like it was impossible to iron!

You make a gorgeous regency-period lady! Pride and prejudice was the first Austen novel I read, and I remember falling head over heels. It remains a favorite.

I love smocked details, I've really got to learn to make them before I start working on my Tudor gown... Ah, well! That's for next fall! =)
