{Vintage Beauty} Queenie May Skincare

Now, I've been a ponds cold cream girl for years, I use it as a moisturizer every night, especially in colder months when my skin is extra thirsty. My only complaint about it was that it's quite greasy. But I always thought that's just how heavy night creams are.

Before the holidays started, Queenie May contacted me and asked if I would try out their new skincare set, a Vanishing Cream and Cold Cream. Upon first glance I was in love with the packaging. It's one of those vintage girl problems that our modern beauty products ruin that otherwise perfect effect of an appealing vanity.

It's simple, neutral, and have I ever told you how much I love matte glass? Well I do.
Of course, with many prettily wrapped things, the actual product itself can turn out to be total rubbish.
Luckily that wasn't the case with these. To quote the site itself:

"Queenie May's Cold Cream is made from a recipe from the 1930s.
With an Olive Oil base it is 100% Natural. No Mineral Oil, No Parabens."

The first night I applied the cold cream I was actually confused as to why my face wasn't shiny! Maybe I didn't use enough? Nope, felt right. In fact my face felt downright velvety. Well how do you like that...

The same goes for the vanishing cream. Named so not because it makes anything vanish, but the cream itself vanishes into your skin, with nothing other than a soft finish, no grease, no residue. I don't have to blot before putting on foundation, which I think is very nice :)

Traditionally cold cream is used as a cleanser/makeup remover. It works well as that too, but I leave it on all night.

The real standout in the set was the cold cream. There may be other vanishing creams out there with a similar  non-greasy outcome, but I have yet to find a cold cream I can leave on and not be greasy, besides this one.

I also love that the ingredients are natural and olive oil based, so this may be a good option for those with sensitive skin. And did you see how pretty they are?

I am a sucker for packaging!I'll definitely have to try some.Winter is killing my skin so if I can find something that works without the greasy feeling I'm in.

ooh I might have to try this! I use Ponds too and I hate how greasy it is, but all of the other cold creams seem to be scented and don't work well with sensitive skin. Going to go take a look now :D

I've never found a cold cream that truly jived just right with my dry, super sensitive skin, but this sounds like it might do the ticket for sure. Thank you very, very much for posting about it.

I wish I could find Ponds Cold Cream here in the Netherlands!
I've been looking for it for years!

I felt hopeful after reading your post, but after seeing the $47 price tag, well.. not so much.
Maybe, one day, when I'm rich!
For now, I'll just look at the pretty pictures in your post :p!

Sounds lovely! I think I may have the opposite skin type to you - it gets congested quite easily and can be quite sensitive.
I used to stay away from oils until I discovered Aesop - before then I was using Dermalogica which was great, but Aesop makes my skin GLOW.

Would love to try this - I don't use cold cream because of how heavy they are - however, since Queen May's is olive oil based it might be okay. I don't think olive oil is clogging is it?

Would love to hear from people with oily/combo skin who have used this product!

Ooh, glad to hear the review was positive. I often use Ponds to remove makeup but never put it on my skin as moisturizer because I felt it was too greasy. I'll gladly try this beauty!

Ive heard cold creams have made people break out. Have you had any of that with either Ponds/Queenie May? Ive always wanted to try one because my grandma swears by it, but I always get so scared to break out of my normal skin routine!

Would love to try this, I did hear it had a rose smell to it though which if too intense may be a no-go for me sadly. Love to hear of more cold-cream addicts in the blogging world!

Hooray for cold creams!!! I used to use Pond's all the time, but gave it up because the super greasy nature of it just wasn't great for my sensitive skin. I'll have to give this a try!

Just a note if you have acne prone skin...Olive oil is can clog poors...grapeseed oil on the other hand does not~

Prepare for a stupid, stupid question - what's the difference between cold creams and moisturiser? Are they jsut a heavier kind of mosturiser? And do you ladies prefer them to mosturisers and if so, why?
