Oh, Auntie Mame! How I loved that book :) it made me laugh in several occasions. And I'm happy to see that the Italian edition of the book has the same drawing on the cover.
I LOVE old books! It seems as though the shops around here are always full of them, and I always want to take them all home with me. I didn't know there were Roy Rogers Chapter books, and will be searching for those in the future, as all three of my kids love his movies. And who knew spelling was once a college class? Maybe it should be again.
How very wonderful! I just picked up a slim vintage book earlier in the month (at a charming bookstore in Vernon that I know you'd just adore, too - it stocks, get this, nothing but used books and secondhand jewelry!) about the history of B.C. - it's the first title now on my fall reading pile this year.
Oh I'm dying over that edition of The Moving Finger! I adore Agatha Christie and am always on the hunt for original hardcover copies of her mysteries :) old books are lovely!
I so badly want to combine two of these book covers into a crazy costume... I'm thinking a black body-suit with white skeleton print (ala Roy Rodgers) combined with opera length leather gloves, layered with beautiful jewels. Skeleton chic. Now I only need to create it and find a place to wear it...

...a rather gothic (or hard boiled?) sensibility. I like it.
