{Cinderella} Ella + Kit

One of my very favorite films ever is the most recent live action Cinderella. It's beautifully done, with excellent casting and performances, not to mention all the visuals involved. But I think what really stands out is that it's a good story, and Cinderella reminds us to be our best selves (I tried a less cheesy way of saying that but it just had to be put that way). Ella and Prince Kit each have their own hardships in the film, and I think Richard Madden put it best in his description of modernizing the character:

"This was so much more interesting because I had to make a character that’s worthy of being around her and worthy of her affections. So, I made him someone who had a sense of humor and who is aware of his own privilege and who has compassion for everyone around him."

The two have excellent chemistry, and I think it's the perfect way of telling a classic fairytale for a modern audience. I have about a million screencaps saved so I'll do a few posts featuring different themes, this time it's all about Cinderella and Prince Kit.

Pink bedroom sneak peek

When we moved into our current rental three years ago I was so excited to have bedroom walls in a rich dark chocolate. Coco gave you a little tour in this post. The room was cozy and tucked off into the corner of the house, and right outside was a beautiful huge tree that provided all the shade you could ask for in the summer, keeping the room a little dark oasis.

Well, the neighbors cut down the tree :/

It took about a year to realize that a bright sun filled room and dark brown paint do not play nice, so this week I decided to go with it, and paint the room something that the sunlight would love: pink!

Two days, and a can of paint later, I had a perfectly pink bedroom. It's far from completely decorated, the only piece of non-bed furniture I have is a lovely Heywood Wakefield vanity I found about a month ago. But it's a start! When I have everything in place I'll do a full tour, but for now, here are some details!

{Redbubble} Art in Motion

Redbubble, my favorite place to get fan designed tees based on my favorite movies and shows, has recently launched a line of exclusive artist designed streetwear that is AMAZING. They contacted me and asked if I would style something from the line, and The Black Hole scarf and Space scarf  by Jorge Lopez caught my eye.

Since the concept is "Art in Motion" I wanted to draw inspiration from Loie Fuller, who's work and life is beyond interesting, I highly recommend viewing this video to see the kind of work she influenced.

These scarves are the perfect tool to capture movement and an ethereal essence, they're so light and airy (I'm really picky when it comes to synthetics, and these poly scarves feel like silk), and they're HUGE! You could wear around your neck or tie one as a wrap skirt, I just love accessories that allow for creativity and versatility.

Check out the Art in Motion collection, there's some really cute summer styles to get you through the heat.
