It's cape weather.
Let's face it, capes are cool. Superheros wear them. Queens wear them. Magicians wear them.
This one is from the 60s, made of warm and soft camel hair. I love that it has two full slits, instead of just arm openings, plus it has attached belt loops to keep a belt in place. And of course when my mother picked me up this morning to go to Portland, she was wearing her leopard cape, we always seem to dress in some similar way when we are together. Like mother like daughter. But needless to say we looked like crazies walking down the street arm in arm with our capes. I did have a hat on, but then I went to the hair salon, so it felt silly covering up done hair with a cloche.
We did go to Forever 21, and I found the ONLY bird brooch there, which of course I bought. I would be dumb if I didn't.
Later we went to Buffalo Exchange, where I found a beautiful $300 Dian Von Furstenberg wrap dress still with tags for only $32! Yeah, much excitement. My mother also found me a darling circle skirt with cats on it, which I will wear all the time around Twila as I know she just looooooves when I wear cats on my clothes ;)

ACK! Cat skirt! Oh my... :D :D
you know I pick fun at your creepy cat fetish out of love right? xox
I'll wear my cat skirt, you wear your granny nightgown ;) we'll be hot.
I love the vintage cape with the boots and modern purse. You look so Scandinavian street style in the best way possible. :)
Love love love that cape. I was planning on bringing my cape for the cold weather up there too. I also have quite a collection of cat clothing, it's so much fun. I am totally entered the crazy cat lady phase and I'm old too. Mine are mostly tee shirts with some crazy 80's cat leggings thrown in to take it up a tacky level.
super cute outfit!
Oh I love this cape on you! Haha your first line reminded me of The Incredibles, where Edna told Mr. Incredible the cons of having a cape.
Someone bought that granny nightgown, cos they thought it was SEXXAY!
No one thinks cats are sexy.. NO ONE :D
The cape...especially with that belt (I never thought of belting a cape!) are fantastic.
The shoes look a bit awkward though. Do they fit well?
LOL! Capes are cool! I love it that it closes on the side :) I hope you're having a good holiday season
The cape. The boots. I am so bloody jealous!!
All I have to say is hell yeah!! That is so awesome, so unique, so different, so chic!
I need a red wool cape...
Adorable boots! I don't know what to say, amazing!
I'm thinking of making an 'emergency cape fund' that I can dig into the moment I see a WWII nurse cape - one that's red on the inside and blue on the outside! They're so amazingly cute.
You're such a snazzy dresser, Solanah! I just love this cape... I've got a vintage YSL Rive Gauche cape that I found years ago at a thrift shop. I need to wear it one day! ;)
Will you be showing your new cat skirt? I'd love to see it!!! :)

That is one gorgeous cape! I own one that used to belong to my grandmother, but it's a hunter-Vienna-green wool-type one. Not nearly as elegant. And I"have problems carrying a bag or purse when I wear it!
By the way: I finally posted my Victorian photoalbum on my blog:
Antiek fotoalbum
Love your cape! I think, when you posted the red one a while back, that inspired me to get one. Also those shoes are perfection.
Best,
Sarah Louise
I've wanted to get a cape for ages but can't find one good enough, this one is gorgeous though!
That is such an amazing cape, I don't think I've ever seen one so beautiful and well-tailored! The arm slits are a great idea... arm holes just make it hard to carry stuff around. You look stunning!
the renegade bean
Treacle, they fit great! The leather is very, very soft :)
Miss Emmi, yes, I love nurses capes!
Casey, I think I'll wear it today, we'll see though, either way I'll be wearing it soon!
Love your cape! You look so perfectly put together. And *I* think cats are awesome. Can't wait to see pics of you in the skirt :)
BTW Thanks for putting up my pic, damn it was cold that day! You looked so cozy, and I had to spend it out and about shopping in the sleety rain. *checks local* Yep I am still in Sunny California, but it doesn't feel like it!
I just wanted to stop by and say merry Christmas - I hope you have a wonderful day! :)
A xx
I've wanted laced up shoes like that for quite a while, only in black (I don't do beighe :P).
Oh and also, concerning capes: YUMM!! I used to be all hooked up on floorlength Victorian-type capes that has a hoodie. I almost made one in school when I was studying to become a seamstress, but I would have needed so much material :(.
I also wondered if I would stand out a lot if I wore it :P. Looking at your outfits I should've just went for it anyways. I'm sure people look at you but you look very, very cool.
Gorgeous!
beautiful outfit. unfortunately it is too cold here on the east coast for capes!
I like capes, but I always feel like I'd get it caught on something. Are they easy to hang up?
What a gorgeous cape and it's perfect with those boots. I found such a lovely plaid cape recently but I kinda feel kind of conspicuous wearing a cape myself.
nice! love your camel cape and matching shoes.
I just gave you an award at my blog :)
Happy holidays from Here's Looking Like You, Kid!
That cape is beautiful - the color, everything about it, it's just so classy!
