Call me cheap, call me thrifty, but please don't ever call me a "frugalista".
You might as well slap me in the face with a pair of neon yellow crocks.
It hasn't happened yet but I can feel it's going to.
Obnoxious person: "Is that your real hair?"
Me: "Yes."
Obnoxious person: "Oh. Where did you get your dress?''
Me:" A thrift store."
Obnoxious person: "Well aren't you a frugalista!"
Me."......."

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA! We were watching the office toight and a TARGET commercial came on.. and it was like, "Jill, is smart! She is a Frugalista!"
I looked at tim and was like WTF?!? WTF is a frugalista and why does it suck so bad?
and now I am here. laughing at the coincidence!
I just read your connecting post. You're really 19? What the! Man I was a train wreck when I was 19, hahaha. You're too great!
And yes, PANTIES is THE worst word. ever. All I picture are old 50 year old fat pervy men. The kind that don't shower. YUCK!
Twila, yeah, that was my exact reaction when I saw the commercial too! Sam just shakes his head.
Zwzzy, well now I'm an old lady, a whole 20 years old.
And thats pretty much a great association with "panties".
;)
see solanah. we just need to be BFFs. I will try not to talk so much. hahah. and maybe not drink so much either. LOL!
I agree Twila, only I'm a listener not a talker, and your drinking stories make me giggle.
Ma'am, that artsy babe is wearing moist bargain panties.
I just threw up in my mouth a bit. Thanks Josh.
OMFG your brother = FOR THE WIN.
Eh, please someone, help? What in the world is a "frugalista"??? English is my second language, and this is a word I've never encountered before...
Loved your list in the old post, although at the advanced age of 27 I'm actually starting to feel comfortable when people call me "mam". But that might be beacuse it never happens in Swedish (we dont have any "polite titels", you can't for instance call someone mr X/miss X/mrsX) so I don't have the cutural references.
I hate being called Ma'am. Makes me feel like I am my own Grandma's older sister.
Frugalista.. who comes up with this stuff?!
Wow...asking if that was your real hair?? THAT is rude. Some people need a lesson in etiquette.
lol this is eye-opening and funny. where i am, the word that might offend ladies is "aunty". i've long gotten used to it when i turned 30. i'm 20 years older than you. gosh.
'Frugalista'?! I don't even know what to say.
I actually like the word 'babe'. Not in the context 'Hey, babe, how are you?' but when you use it like 'Dirk Bogarde is such a babe' or 'If she were a president she'd be Babe-raham Lincoln'. I think that comes from watching Wayne's World and Bill & Ted over and over growing up. =\ But I don't like the word panties, either. Knickers is far more fun to say! And people here don't really say 'Ma'am' very much, if at all, but I get called 'love' or 'dear' a lot.

Very funny ! Thank you
Erika, Well "fashionista" is another made up word used to describe a girl who dedicates herself to fashion, someone stylish.
Being "Frugal" means that you like to save money, and since most people are frugal in the US thanks to the bad economy, the words were put together to describe a fashionable woman who doesn't spend a lot of money but still wants to look good.
There's a commercial here that uses the word, and it's really annoying.
xoxo
What in the world are a frugalista?
Ah, great! Thanks, Solanah! That's indeed not a nice thing to say to someone, I would be quite offended if someone called me that.
Fun learning new words though! =)
I can't agree with you more, Solanah. Frugalista as a word needs to die.
That word is ridiculous, especially on a commercial!
The English language is dying a slow, painful death. *laughs*
Also, I feel like the grandma of the bunch here - I'm 33!
Jennifer ^_^
